Re: Feedback: Gubu censorship

I can understand where the admin is coming from. It should shake off any impression that this is a “hate site” and help it stand on its own two feet.

Re: OK so who has had Covid?

Got it at my own wedding! All of my wife's family ended up with it too. For me it wasn't too serious, just felt like a cold for the most part.

Re: The Ditch: political organisation or media??

In my opinion it’s a bit of both. They’re doing great work but Cosgrave’s dislike of the government over the whole Web Summit thing is probably fuelling it.

I know someone who was in a similar position and it was the Coolmine centre that got them back on track.

Re: Boards Megathread - Read OP before posting.

https://www.boards.ie/discussion/2058295088/i-received-a-warning-for-misgendering-a-transgender This thread absolutely shows just how insane Boards is and how autocratic and sad the higher ups are. I stay out of those threads because I’m well aware how the narrative is over there and my views on it...

True, maybe I'm being too harsh here. Better to have them preserved for potential future restoration or use than scrapped!

Irish Traction Group

What's the story with these guys? Always seemed to be something fishy... I remember when they got kicked out of Inchicore, apparently because IR wanted all heritage stock removed, yet the RPSI were able to keep theirs there. Now their stuff sits in Moyasta, surely rotting away with the sea air down ...

Re: Boards Megathread - Read OP before posting.

While never participating in radio forum,or particularly care enough about any individual to abuse em online......I do enjoy the absurdity of it all.....people getting vexxed over a radio presenter or passing their days "defending" a radio presenter who likely couldn't give a balls about ...

Re: Boards Megathread - Read OP before posting.

Unpopular opinion incoming but I'm sure Gubu isn't tied to any one particular opinion. I can see where the NUIG gang are coming from with the RTE stuff. I don't have any particular feeling for Tubridy, never listened to his radio show and haven't been a fan of the Late Late since the Gay Byrne days....

Re: Boards Megathread - Read OP before posting.

It can happen. There might be a few comments made and then the mod will intervene. There can also be discussions about who should be let join and why or why not. I was a member of a group along with a friend of mine. I think she left and then wanted to rejoin... can't remember exactly. But it was a...

The mast was demolished this morning, only a couple of days after the old MW came down.

Re: Boards Megathread - Read OP before posting.

Boards still down! Should we close this thread temporarily? It's laughable. One of the supposed reasons for getting off vBulletin was that it was too heavily customised and the updates broke it. But then they shoehorned Vanilla into being something it shouldn't be, so now the automatic Vanilla upda...

This is a good read, shows Musk's obsession with X and how he nearly ruined PayPal by trying to migrate it from Linux to Windows!

I've noticed that a user (not mentioning any names) has on at least two occasions deleted their account and re-regged under the same name and continues to post on the same threads. Seems a bit odd to me.

Yeah Vodafone default to 0000 on their SIMs and disable the PIN prompt by default, has to be enabled again if you want it.

Long time Boards poster here, since 2003. I’ve also been a lurker here since pretty much the start. I’ve always had a love/hate relationship with Boards. It was a big part of my life for years and I was even in some of the private groups. I’d see myself as a centrist politically as I share views fro...

Re: Annoyances & Irritations

There was a guy reading the news on Newstalk the other day and he had that annoying habit of trying to pronounce Irish words in a D4 accent. He was reporting on Micheál Martin's little difficulty in Cork at the Neutrality thing and kept referring to him as the Thánaiste, with a "th" as if...
