Re: Bambie Thug - - Ireland's Eurovision enty..

Jaysus, who would that buy that sort of stuff? I can, hand on heart, say that I have not intentionally watched the Eurovision since the 1970s and my last memory of it was seeing the "Riverdance" act at the interval in 1994 - and only because it happened to be on down the pub. Dana and Abb...

I still buy vinyl on Discogs from Israeli sellers. They assure me that they have nothing to do with the conflict. On that basis, I proceed.

Re: Yes/Yes campaign and misinformation

I know someone who got two polling cards for the Repeal The Eighth referendum (one for his house, the other sent to his parents house)

He voted yes and no.

Done the job though ,head in a basket.1977 , never knew they used it up to that point
A few more got the death sentence afterwards but all were commuted when Mitterand got rid of it in 1981.

Re: Nitrogen Execution

Hanging was never a great way , didn't work sometimes. The guillotine seemed like a full proof method once the axe was sharp , head cut off no squirming. There's a good report from prosecutor Monique Mabelly an eyewitness from France's last guillotining. Hamida Djandoubi at Marseilles, September 19...

No hanging in US since 1996 and unlikely to be again seeing as only New Hampshire offer it now (secondary method only)
No firing squad since 2010

Michael Oldfield - The Best Of 1992-2003 2CD

Great selection of singles and remixes. Nicely complements the 8CD box of albums from that era.

Re: What are you listening to at the moment?

When you're playing Daft Punk and someone comes up and asking if you have any dance music, that's when you know it's a lost cause. I put on an 80s night at New Ross rugby club in 2011. Packed. Put on Guns N' Roses Paradise City and the dancefloor was jammed. All bar a handful of punters were...

I'd like to add - surely they could have just put them in a box marked "FREE DVDs" i.e. not charge for them.

Putting them in a recycling bin is sheer waste.

Re: CHARITY SHOPS...

@Del.Monte - that's unusual behaviour from the charity shop. Must be a new policy - really pointless. One thing I did notice about the free discs - often the aspect ratio would not be correct. For years, second hand record shops never had an issue selling promo CDs or vinyl. I'd say most of them sti...

I just don't get that.

I buy CDs and records every few days.
A bunch of BDs and DVDs every month.
Turntable, CD player, BD player (also plays DVDs) are used every day.

I don't buy VHS anymore but still use the VCR every few weeks.

Regrettably more purchases from Amazon than ever this year but most Irish retailers just don't stock the things I want and it's not to do with price. Same story for as long as I can remember and they could get away with it pre-internet but they would want to up their game. Definitely agree. Nothing...
