Re: Rusty lug nuts - how to get the last three off?

Weed killer wont heat them to cherry red. Oxy acetylene to cherry red will do the job, and then maybe the spanner, but I would use the chisel.

Re: Rusty lug nuts - how to get the last three off?

If you are not using the hubs again then its no big deal what damage you do to the studs. Then again yankee war machinery was made to service in the field, so chances are the studs are a whack out serrated stud, and would be easily replaced with a right hand thread of an imperial size which would be...

Re: Rusty lug nuts - how to get the last three off?

Nut splitter. Yep it sounds painful, but thats the last resort option as you would find it tricky to replace the reverse threaded nuts. Dont be tempted to whack the ends of the nuts if there is any danger of whacking the stud. Its game over then, and alot of hardwork ahead. My goto tool in this case...

Re: Car Tyres

I was back for a service and garage chap said the tyres had been rotated down the years and that they were grand. So all set for NCT tomorrow! Best of luck. Just make sure your tyre pressures are correct, as this affects the headlamp alignment. You would be surprised by how much. And double check t...

Re: Mentally ill man decapitates his wife

Its nigh on impossible to get mental health services in this country, or any date when you may get it. My other who is 91 has recently been assessed as having dementia, with the cursory GP assessment, which is of no use in a proper diagnosis which we have been informed by our dementia advisor. She h...

Re: Defibrilators (AEDs)

I also just noticed that with the automatic defib units , they assess the electrical activity of the heart and only administer a shock if its needed. That sort of takes the guess work out of it. My recent heart attack 3 years ago wouldn't have needed a shock as there was no electrical activity probl...

Re: Defibrilators (AEDs)

True enough. But do many know when to consider the need for a defib unit, I doubt it. Who has the courage to make the decision that someone needs a shock to the heart to help them. Thats the thing that would worry me. If you use a defib unit on someone who does not need it, what harm can you do apar...

Re: Defibrilators (AEDs)

Just out of curiosity if you buy one of those defibrilators are you going to get a proper teaching in how to use it. More so will a person feel confident enough to actually attempt to use this on an individual who needs it. I always thought firstaid and cpr should be taught in schools to be honest.

Re: Annoyances & Irritations

Things that irritate me... These cycling groups that appear en masse at the weekends and fly along the roads like they own the fekking place. I dont have a problem with that. But what gets my goat is these 70+ year old farts, take up the whole fecking road by cycling 4,5,and 6 abreast. Infuriating. ...

Re: NCT Pass or fail

I left some of the welds unfinished as the tester instructed me to do, in order to inspect and test the welds. So reluctantly I did this as I would have preferred to make them finished as best I could. And I was curious to see what would pass and what would fail, as it was 18 years old I was sure it...
