Katie Hannon Upfront on RTE One

I enjoyed the new current affairs/debate programme on RTE One tonight.
I though Katie Hannon did a very good job chairing the lively debate. Hopefully it proves as good going forward.

Re: Best and Worst Radio Ads

Can anyone remember one a good few years back for "udder cream" (for cows). I think the name had golden in it so might have been for Golden Udder Cream? I'd only just moved to Ireland at the time and the amount of farmer related rural ads on the radio was surprising. Was it an ointment ca...

Re: Ronan Collins leaving RTE radio 1

I always considered Ronan a thorough pro at the microphone. He always imparted a fantastic knowledge of music without ever coming across as preachy or having a big ego. Never went on waffling about himself either and just kept to the task in hand. A very easy programme to listen to and he always see...

Give Times Radio a try. It's a good source of (UK) politics, current affairs and news.

Re: Charity - what organisation is genuine?

I have monthly DDs for Limk Animal Welfare and St VdP. I like to think St Vincent De Paul spend less on overheads than the big charities like Concern and others. I hope I 'm correct in this assumption.

Re: Sunday Miscellany - RTE

I still listen to it. I find it a nice relaxing respite from the perpetual stream of news, current affairs & interviews. Sort of walking into a quiet and calm church in a busy city centre. I've listened to it since I was a youngster so there's a fair bit of nostalgia involved at this stage of my...

Re: Will this place take over from Boards?

I'm spending more time here in the last few days than I do in Boards. Sort of like moving house in stages. It's a breeze to navigate around this platform. Hopefully some of my favourite forums are replicated here, Motoring, Weather, Aviation to mention a few. If a few hundred more people migrate ove...

Buying the RTE Guide to see the coming week's tv schedule. It used to be a fun magazine back in the day.

Must say I'm enjoying this place so far. Sort of like finding yourself a new local and discovering the pint is pretty good.

Re: Will you travel abroad this summer?

I'm fairly easy about going abroad this year. If the situation in Portugal improves and some semblance of normality pertains, then I'd consider a week in the sun. If the scene stays iffy, I'm happy to say in Ireland. I don't want a week's hols abroad needing a mask going into bars and restaurants et...
