Howaryiz ... Have just spent a fortnight wearing out my eardrums in the company of two dozen gabby relatives (none of whom has ever kissed the Blarney stone); and come home to find myself with an unexpected houseguest for a week. No, not her  ; another her - one of my festival buddies - whose i...

Every so often, I'd get a half-page request to contribute despite never having done so.

Wouldn't be surprised if the suggested amount is adjusted in line with each country's notional disposable income.

Re: Post what's on your mind

EV economics. A new electric Citroën is coming to a forecourt near me next year at a price that's really quite sensible (barely 10k with subsidies) and I started wondering if it'd be a good time to trade in the 19-year-old Mégane that serves as my runaround. So I took a gander at the EV discussions ...

Something didn't work properly as far as the feeder is concerned, as it was almost completely empty instead of being only half-empty, and there was a quantity of un-eaten biscuits in the dog-bed suggesting that all five appetites had been well-satisfied. With it back in the house at the moment, it ...

One of the YouTubers I follow (Anglo-French woman, owns a chateau about half an hour north of me) had an English guy come to visit last week (another chateau-owner), and great fuss was made of the English sausages and British black pudding he brought with him as a gift. If you can accurately judge the safe depth to which you can drill, think about getting hold of one of this type of drill-stops: https://www.amazon.com/Clamp-Tite-Drill-Stop/dp/B0050683GC Although more expensive than the traditional bit of masking tape stuck to your bit, as long as you've tightened i...

The provisional bill for Ciarán and Domingos in France has come in this week: 1.3billion. Not including the uncountable costs, like about a dozen schools in Brittany remaining closed until further notice, and several townlands in the Pas de Calais effectively uninhabitable due to flooding. Will they fit the old screw holes though, that's the issue in the first place. I don't want to be drilling into wood half a centimetre away from old drill holes! I just want it to be easy. Sometimes the easiest thing in a situation like this is to offset the whole arrangement by 1 or 2cm from the o...
