Yeah, noticed her missing as well. In fact, things have been VERY quiet around here for several weeks. Are we on a terminal slide or what? Hope not!
Re: Weather
Looks like the storm coming this weekend - after Gerrit clears away - will be called ISHA, after our favourite Gubu contributor, no doubt! Here's hoping it dosn't get too wild around here!

But, not unlike Cormac McCarty's The Road, Prophet Song's narrative was one of u...

Just who is Enoch Von Clausewitz, how does he know so much about horse-racing and why is he ploughing such a lonely furrow?

Both Zelensky and Orban attended the inauguration of the new Argentinian president over the weekend. Both were placed suspiciously close together and words were exchanged. Anyone able to lipread?

Well said isha. Lots of people out there who will jump at the chance to wave a flag or protest over the barest whim, without being informed. Latent anarchists many of them with too much time on their hands!!!

Really frightening!
Re: Weather
Must be going through the "eye" of the storm here in Louth, just a gentle breeze out there. Is the worst over?

Also watched Leave The World Behind. Well acted, nice tension build-up, but a bit preachy and talky and felt at times like a stage play. 6/10

Looks like Mr Brexit himself, the bould Nige, still has a lot of votes out there, as he's made it to the last 3 in the I'm A celebrity 2023 series.
Re: Weather
Fergus tomorrow could prove to be rather inclement for some and there's another low pressure coming in on Monday, so if you have hatches, have them well battened down!
Re: Weather
Storm Elin passing over 12 to 6 pm today. Mainly a wind event. Plenty of yellow and orange for the northern half of the country. Check your local weather sources for updates.

Re: Booker Prize: Prophet Song by Paul Lynch
Reading it on kindle at the moment and have mentioned it in the What Book are you Reading thread, so I Will reserve overall judgement until I complete it. Yes, the wall of text and lack of separate lines of dialogue is off-putting - but I’m getting used to it as I go on and want to see how the story...

Re: Do you donate to Wikipedia?
Thanks for posting that chart JayZeus. First time I've actually seen income and expense figures for Wikipedia. So my conscience is somewhat salved as well. Just wondering though, where their income comes from? 1000s of €10 and €20 donations or are there corporate payments too?

Do you donate to Wikipedia?
I’ve donated small amounts of money over the years, usually €10 or €20. Now they’re looking for more. I wonder do they just impose on those who have previously given or does everyone get a banner request when you open Wikipedia?

Re: What book are you currently reading?
I deliberately avoided reviews of Lynch’s book, as, I find, if you were to ponder on every review of any book that initially too your fancy, that you’d never buy a book at all.
Re: Weather
Looks like a chilly couple of weeks coming up, so wrap up warm, cover your externals taps and have your means of transport prepped for the winter.
