Oh didn't you know? Raping a man isn't gay apparently - only being raped by another man is gay. No need for any punishments 🤬

Re: Public disorder, riots, looting etc

I fully agree Del. I think this is what you get after over two decades of neo-liberal government. Public services are in decay, more and more people live in minimum wage misery, and prices keep on rising. Social order will also decay in line with government negligence.

Judith Butler who brought us men are women also acclaimed Hamas and Hezbollah as progressive social movements and part of the Global Left. ... Re: Israel and Palestine

The Palestinians are most definitely cornered by the occupation forces of Israel. Gaza is essentially an open prison in which a couple of million people are corralled and monitored and everything that passes in and out is scrutinised by Israeli forces. Israel on the other hand as I have written is ...

Re: Israel and Palestine

I finally found a written account of what the released Hamas prisoner said to the media, quoted below. I had watched videos of the interview, but the audio was bad. Yukhfed Livshitz, who was released from Gaza yesterday, said, "When we arrived in Gaza, they initially assured us that they belie...

Re: Israel and Palestine

Palestine is not cornered. It neighbours another Muslim country. However due to the savagery and barbarism of Hamas, the Egyptians are not keen to deal with them. Israel as a country is cornered among either hostile or decidedly ambivalent Arab countries. Here's another map for you! Israel_and_Arab_...

Re: Israel and Palestine

This map is deeply flawed PureIsle. It starts a random point in time - 1946, why? Why not 1946 BC? There was no 'Palestine' in 1946. It was a concept. It was disputed land in 1946 ostensibly under British control and before that it was part of the Ottoman Empire. Here's another with a far more reali...

Re: Israel and Palestine

Folks keep referring to various borders and configurations from 1948 to 1967, but all of these are irrelevant. Israel will never agree to the 1967 borders simply because you cannot defend a territory that is only 9 miles wide in some places. The overarching deciding factor for any boundary lines wil...

It's an impossible situation with no right answer or solution. The 'morality' of the situation is irrelevant based on the actions of both parties over many years. there are no heroes and victims here. The 'solution' is not possible while Hamas exist and attempt to carry out their clearly stated aims...

Aaah memories of France.... having the aul' septic tank emptied by a chap with a big tanker truck and a yellow complexion 😬 and then getting it restarted with a box of powdered enzymes and some very old cheese - a neighbour swore by that method!

Re: The 2023 Rugby World Cup

Tournament/Cup Rugby is a flawed way to have global competition. It created a ridiculous situation where far weaker teams made it far further purely based on luck. It's great for bookies/betting folks but a shite way to determine who the best team is.

Human trafficking of every type needs to be taken seriously by both police services on the island of Ireland. I think some NGOs in the area also need to be treated with suspicion - most don't help the situation especially when religiously driven. This is a task for professional policing. I'm permane...

Re: Israel and Palestine

Here's an interesting angle around the Gaza strip: Israel are criticised for enclosing the border with Gaza and making it into an 'open prison' and they're castigated for not sending in fuel and supplies. But Gaza has two borders! One with Israel and one with Egypt. Why doesn't Egypt open its border...
