Re: Drone photography - Discussion and pics/vids
On a more creative note, I want to wait until winter, get some smoke bombs, head out to the outskirts of the city and find a nice open area (easy to find in Manitoba) and do some criss cross fly overs of someone (or two people) hanging out the side of a car holding the smoke bombs. I think the cont...

Re: Drone photography - Discussion and pics/vids
Had a workmate build drones as a hobby and I spent a long time arse'ing to buy one but I knew I'd only use it a few times and it would be left there. I ended up buying a mavic mini last year and so have not found an opportunity to use it so far, I've only given it a test flight and thought it was co...

Re: 35mm Film Photography
Where would I get slide film (E6) developed now? I have a Nikon F4, and in the freezer a pile of (ancient) Fuji Velvia In Dublin I hear that "John Gunn Camera Shop" has a good reputation, https://www.johngunn.ie/ not sure about other places in different counties. I'm down in Limerick and ...

Re: If I could start out again...
To give a short answer for the moment, I'm probably thinking more landscape and street photography. I dont have much experience with landscape type photography myself. I dont drive so that can be a limiting factor if your trying to get to some scenic place out the countryside at sunrise etc, Its on...

I also enjoy the development process, because I've usually forgotten what is on the roll when by the time it comes out of the tank! .. Does anyone else enjoy this? Am I just tilting at windmills? I'm shooting with Ektar and ProImage [I bought a second, cheaper body so I have two films on the go]. H...

Re: If I could start out again...
The best yoke I ever bought was a telescopic monopod, big enough so that I could see straight through the view finder with out having to bend, I am about 1.8 and i can stand dead straight[/list] Got one of these too! very handy things that can double up as a walking pole if your trekking someplace ...

Re: If I could start out again...
I'd been looking at the Nikon 3100 for a long while (or one of the more recent updated 3X00s since) and hadn't considered going for film over digital. Hard to go wrong with any of the modern cameras or brands these days. That would be a nice first purchase and plenty of cheap lens's out there 2nd h...

I dont have a flatbed scanner anymore but the ones used to scan Negatives tend to be more expensive than the average scanner I still see people who are into film photography use 4-500 Euro scanners, the el-cheapo negative scanners you can pick up for 50bucks in Argos or Aldi etc tend to be crappy we...

Re: Do you still use a real Euro for the trolley?
Wonder are their still kids hanging around the car-parks in shopping center's offering to return your trolley for ya! in exchange for the coin. Used to be all the rage when I was growing up in the likes of Dunnes stores where at the time (it was a 50pence piece) people were too lazy to push the empt...

Re: Annoyances & Irritations
The local centra I goto is a goldmine always busy, They've a one way system in place for traffic where they've got an exit and an entrance, and they have a pretty generous amount of parking front and back of the shop. It drives me nuts when I'm trying to go out the exist and some eejit is trying to ...

Re: Garden Studio/Getting a big shed built etc
With regard to the celling height have you considered digging below ground to lower the floor. It is not something to be undertaken lightly as if it is not done correctly you will have water ingress. I think you can excavate up to 1 metre below ground without PP. It is something that some people ha...

Re: Garden Studio/Getting a big shed built etc
I think you will find the 4metre rule is for the roof height of your proposed building. Anything above that is gonna be a planning issue if memory serves me well. The other construction and planning forum has the definitive answers there. Lean to roof against your existing house might work for you....

What is it? It looks like something that I would terminate with extreme prejudice. This was a pic I took from a few years ago, My wife used to be a dog groomer and we also had several stray/pet cats so spotted this tick on the floor of the grooming room one day and decided to get a photo of it. Tic...

Might swap my useless feet for the Feet of a Chimpanzee to get a bit of dexterity back into them. Write and hold stuff with my toes etc.
Maybe a set of eagle eyes too.

Re: Do significant age gap relationships last?
I've found it strangely fascinating to watch certain youtube videos of what I would sometimes consider dirty old men, or just lonely old men that deliberately travel to other countries to hook up with either a Russian Bride who cant even speak to him and needs a translator and could not give a feck ...

Re: Nature photos
For focus-stacking, that's always been the advice I've seen: a wide aperture and tiny depth of field, then multiple shots ... but "multiple" as in 16, 20, 24 at mm intervals - which was how I was wondering how you could do it hand-held. :) It only works with co-operative subjects! I usual...

How d'you get him to sit still long enough to get the multiple shots for a photostack? And how d'you keep the camera steady enough without a tripod? Luck :D On the top of stinky Bin they will often rest/stay still for a minute or two, if you approach really slowly you can sometimes get within 3-4 i...

Simple fly on the lid of a wheelie Bin
hand held natural light photostack, I did not quite get enough in focus shots to achieve a good macro stack, would have liked to get enough to have included the wings.

You had one of the largest airsoft collections going alright! 30k though? jesus! hah, that's something else. Yeah the cheap pot metal does not age well does it? Zinc pest I think it's called, the stuff just falls apart. Rather interestingly, a lot of my primarily plastic stuff from back in 2006/200...
