Re: Speed Limits to be Reduced
And the clapping yapping masses, the media types, the vested interests in NRA and the likes will laud this shyte. And of course you will have the plonkers proclaiming that the new speed limit of 80kph on a road that has been 100kph for decades is great Had a chat about this earlier and the thought ...

Re: Speed Limits to be Reduced
I think there are many roads with 100km signs up and regularly placed, where you would be insane to go at 100kms. I'm glad those roads will now be 80 km. And in built up areas driving slowly is safest for any small children that might run out. Sure, enforcement, I agree. Needs more. But more ration...

This randomly popped up in my YouTube feed this evening... it certainly looks legitimate from the reactions https://youtu.be/BHWXRTHbCAc Is this a thing here now?? Bad enough when this was in America, but here at home now too? Tralee according to the guy on camera It's more than a little concerning ...

Re: IMMIGRATION OUT OF CONTROL
The country will never be the same if this runs on for much longer. I fear that point has already passed. It's abundantly clear that the majority of those here now never intend to go home or anywhere else (unless they can sneak into the UK maybe). It's our problem now and the problem will pass to o...

It's certainly continued to decline over there. Before the changeover I never used the ignore list at all but now it has quite a few in it.. all users who seem to just join threads to deflect, whataboutery, demanding "evidence" and denying/ignoring it when they get it, or who seem to cry &...

Re: Hate Speech Law
It's very simple as you said. There's 2 genders - male and female. You're one or the other. All the rest that "modern" society is struggling with are identities based on feelings or opinions. That's fine (your life is your own), but it doesn't negate biological or historical facts, nor doe...

It's always been pasty white Irish girls for me. Just more in common - culturally, sense of humor, language etc.
I've worked in multinationals in the past for years and just had no interest in the others.

Re: Elon Musk buys 100% of Twitter
I can only hope that Elon runs it into the ground and it dies off - just as how Facebook is dying while Zuckerberg focuses on his Metaverse fantasy Both platforms have a lot to answer for in regards to Westerm society today - some of the quotes from tweets in posts above are proof of that, but more ...

I agree with that as well.I often took holidays to Balleyvaughn and Fanore. It's a lovely little spot and IMO the Tea Junction still has the best breakfast. But reading how they have now become overwhelmed .Reading how many they had to take in I don't see how they can cope or recover since tourism id...

Re: Ireland's Immigration Stance - Have we bitten off more than we can chew?
This discussion came up in our house at the weekend. We were in a town which has a very large immigrant population and to tell you the truth the poverty was visible and disturbing. My adult children are quite liberal and one works directly with refugees in Europe, as a translator. She has also long...

Ireland's Immigration Stance - Have we bitten off more than we can chew?
Context: I think I'm done with the "other site". It seems that we can no longer objectively discuss certain topics without posts being reported/deleted and people sanctioned for expressing concerns, or opinions against the accepted narrative on the forum and appealing to the higher-ups is ...

Re: Sunday Business Post Red C poll on United Ireland
Because if we want both sides to accept it and support it, both sides need to accept a need for compromise and to be seen to "give something up" to the other. It certainly won't happen anytime soon despite more nonsense polling. The Unionists don't want it, and we don't want to pay for it....

Even simple things like books and jigsaws can be considerably cheaper bought from Irish retailers but the public mindset now is tuned to Amazon being cheaper than our own bricks and mortar outlets. The problem with Irish retail is that unless you are prepared to trek wherever to collect/buy it, it ...

Re: The Mica Redress Scheme
I don't know that it is. From pub talk and what I see online, a lot of people are wondering...why should we pay for someone's house in Donegal, whoever's fault it is it's certainly not ours. Now, none of this is to minimise the trauma of the families affected, the stress, the impact on family life,...

Gathering pace? We've known pretty much since the first vaccines were administered that we would need booster shots, just like most other vaccines. We've had 44,000 cases in 14 days. You expect them to say everything is going smoothly? like some kind of Comical Ali ? The real world you say?? You th...

Re: What's going to happen when we are all* vaccinated?
Whatever about the comparisons, the point is still valid. The talk of booster shots is gathering pace, and no doubt after that it'll be something else. The scaremongering over case numbers is also back and the usual mixed soundbites from cabinet ministers about whether a return to harsher restrictio...

Most landlords certainly won't be paying that much, nor looking at the extra insulation you mention. Many will barely do the minimum upkeep as it is. The idiotic idea of wanting a million EVs on the roads in a country with a huge commuting population (and the costs associated with that) and relative...

So, going from the less than superlative posts so far, as an Elite Dangerous gamer it's best to steer well clear of windoze 11 thus far Reports of something like a 10-20% gaming performance drop on W11 at the moment if you have an AMD CPU so probably best to wait alright. The problem is not the death of print media, it's the assumption that quality content should be free - it can't be, journalists need to be paid for their work - I'm not talking about clowns re-hashing non-news to create clickbait, I'm talking about actual well researched pieces, no matter the field...

If I'm reading the OP wrong then apologies but I had this scenario a few weeks ago in Dublin. I was at the top of a junction waiting to turn left with my indicator on. Lights go green and just as I'm about to move I see this woman on a bike at my rear bumper fully intending to peddle on inside/under...

I was naked!! Being fairly quiet at this time on a Sunday mornin...

Hate supermarket shopping as well - trying to get a decent parking spot that won't have someone put a trolley dent (or worse) in one of the doors, the aimless souls dawdling down the aisles and getting in the way, the fact that there's never enough checkouts open (Dunnes) and then having to pack it ...
