I genuinely don’t think you are capable of realising how profoundly disturbing your post was. So let’s leave it at that.

Re: Russell Brand

I’m as far from a fan of his as you can get but these allegations are absolutely ludicrous!!! He’s a “complete slag” (by his own admission at the time) but he’s too much of an egotist to engage in anything less than consensual. Once again the word “rape” is being redefined to suit an agenda. Re: Feedback: Gubu censorship

Censored while discussing censorship. Hmm. Could you have not just censored the name - the rest of the points are valid. In my time as a Boards moderator and indeed CMod we’d encounter posters like you. Just an enormous time and emotional energy timesink. There’s pretty much one rule in this thread...

Re: Feedback: Gubu censorship

I’d agree. Like outright abuse of someone isn’t on, but harsh criticism of a poster or there opinions should be allowed. There have been numerous threads of Reddit over the years where posters on Boards have been named: Beasty, Aongus Von Skidmark, Pighead etc. The Gub is doing a fine job in keeping...

Re: Boards Megathread - Read OP before posting.

I think they are pretty childish with their dispute resolution, first pm the mod all the rules and steps and appeals. Like a children's game. There is one on the liveline [and other]threads who has met all the celebrities, flown a plane, visited all countries and anything she answers become all abo...

Re: Boards Megathread - Read OP before posting.

I never modded the radio forum, but it always caused a huge amount of mod reports. There’s some very strange people who were/are regulars there. A lot of bullying, obsession, even doxxing once or twice. For once I think the NUIG crew are actually correct.

Re: Boards Megathread - Read OP before posting.

I never placed too much faith in it, but I was told before that some of the mods and admins were Freemasons. I do know for a fact that a former moderator of the conspiracy theory forum openly admitted to being a Mason. I don’t think it’s unreasonable to suggest that the brotherly fraternity might be...

Re: Boards Megathread - Read OP before posting.

Re: the woke thread. Was just whatsapping another former mod on Boards and they mentioned that the reason the woke thread was closed was that a notorious troll there kept reporting posts. There's no reported posts forum since they moved to Crapilla but it was said (I cannot verify) that one of the r...

Re: Boards Megathread - Read OP before posting.

The NUIG crew (or the Scutter Junkies as Bertie called them) are a group of individuals who run accounts on boards with seeming impunity. I never met them but heard about them when I used to go to mod beers. Seems they all went to NUIG together, knew a lot of the early mods and admins, and are very ...

Re: Boards Megathread - Read OP before posting.

I’m no fan of RTE, Turgidy or the whole Noel Kelly thing, but a number of posters over on boards in the current affairs thread about it come across as obsessive weirdos. The type you read about in the paper who send 25000 emails a year or are caught rooting around in bins behind Claire Byrne’s house...

Less of the personals there, dude. Nothing burgers are unpalatable when FG are flagging in the polls. Did I tell you about my latest masterpiece in the jax, tray of pints and seafood chowder is a messy business pal. It's tough weaving elaborate yarns about the 4-series in Karlsruhe when the librari...

Re: Boards Megathread - Read OP before posting.

The longest running and unfunniest joke in Boards history - the international financier who left the wasteland that is east Galway and became an expert on pretty much everything.

Meant to say - rumour has it he was a creation of the NUIG crew.

I wonder if that had anything to do with it? A distressed poster is goaded by someone looking for cheap thanks.

The post announcing her death was reported here. As DelMonte has pointed out her profile is clearly marked banned rather than deleted. Assuming nobody is engaging in personal attacks on her I feel that it's no problem to discuss, or even speculate, why she might have got a ban. But it seems appropr...

Re: Boards Megathread - Read OP before posting.

The Dung Dukes are pretty much operating at the very highest levels of the pecking order. A wink, a nod, a seemingly throwaway phrase inserted into a post. It’s all a big laugh for some of them, but they know exactly what they are doing. Finding out who the Paymaster is would reveal a lot I’d say.

Re: Boards Hall of Fame

I’d agree. I will admit that when it was founded I presumed this place would fill with man-children, train spotting oddballs, and losers going on about woke culture. How wrong was I. Yes, it can be quiet, but Rome wasn’t built in a day.

Re: Boards Hall of Fame

There’s a difference between real humour and wit and the sort of tiresome Beavis and Butthead humour you find in that wretched etiquette thread. I didn’t poo for a week after eating too many peanuts and then I did it in my mother in laws house after a funeral. Into her shoes. 🥱 Maybe Gubu could carv...

Re: Boards Hall of Fame

Ok, so this is where the incredible writing has gone! Bertie and JaySeus should write a sitcom together. Sharp, pithy, not afraid to pull a punch if needed, don’t rely on wokeness or toilet humour.

Re: Boards Hall of Fame

I see some of the usual suspects are in the Turgidy thread attempting to derail it. It may seem like an extreme opinion, but I believe the Noel Kelly Talent Agency represents a current and growing threat to Irish democracy. Its stable of “stars” all push a single narrative, appear on each others sho...

Re: Boards Hall of Fame

It's also good to remember the great posters on Boards over the years. We all remember Pighead, Mike65, Gordon, Degsy etc. You might not have always have agreed with them, but at least they understood the ethos of a message board. Posters you could have set your pocket watch to.
