Re: Movies - the Greatest Car Chase scene?

The film Ronin had some really good car chases.

Re: I'll have that for you tomorrow.

I know what that's like. Local businesses near me are daft. Antiquated processes and will almost ask where are you from. I don't want to mention the business or it's type but I had a two month long saga with a local business. I ordered online for pick up, it was I stock and I was to pick it up when ...

Re: Energy Prices

ESB Group posted a profit of 390M after tax.
That's triple on last year according to the Journo:

At this stage, I'd vote for anyone who puts the people first.

Re: Hungary not a democracy

If the country votes for someone, and they rise to power, that's democracy in action, but there are countries not a million (or even one hundred) miles from Ireland where the majority of the electorate don't vote for a particular party, but that party repeatedly clings on to power to the detriment ...

I hope the time-wasting penalties are something that will applied to all matches going forward.

Best RC I watched in a while i.e. its keeping my attention.

Re: Hungary not a democracy

So if a country votes for someone the EU doesn't like, it's not a democracy.
I find it very hard to take seriously any moral instruction from any European country.

Re: Were homophobes protesting at Pride in the UK this year?

I always wonder how people get all the time off to attend all these protests.
Anyway, regarding these type of groups - let them eat themselves and each other. It is the way of things.

Swedish Elections

The Swedish General Elections started earlier this week. The centre-left PM Magdalena Andersson has conceded victory and resigned. She headed up a coalition of Left Party, Greens, Centrists, and Social Democrats. The victorious alliance is made up of the Liberals, Christian Dems, Moderate Party and ...

Re: Unreadable books - your top picks

Catch 22 by whatever the ballbag was who wrote it. It reads like a bad vaudeville gag. Same gag, same perspective, same style, same monotony. Over and over again. Probably the only book I threw away. I put it in the recycling bin with hopes it with get made into something useful. Toilet paper perhaps.

Re: Annoyances & Irritations

I was stuck behind a small hedgecutter machine on the way to work. He couldn't really do anything because a cyclist was on the right hand side of the lane, blocking the road. Meanwhile a ballbag in white VW decides he is too important to wait; overtakes me at speed only to jam on his brakes and get ...

Re: Jordan Peterson

I read 12 Rules for Life. It was ok. Some good stuff and some waffle. I think it could be of benefit to certain folk. I don't mind the man himself. I don't think he's a bad cat and I like that he offers a different, mostly measured, perspective. However, at times, willfully or no, he can come across...

Re: Diversity and inclusion in the Oireachtas

I remember, years ago when I worked maintenance in a large med-tech facility. Our dept. worked to schedules for the most part. The work was prioritized according to urgency, importance etc. One particular week we were rushing to get a new clean-room up and running. We ore or less did it on out own w...

Re: Re: WTF moment of the day

My WTF moment of the day is just the complete state of our country. Its everything - incompetence everywhere. The complete lack of any joined up thinking, planning or any semblance of project management. I think what set me off is Eamon Ryan announcing the The North Seas Energy Cooperation group and...

Re: What are your thoughts on Weed decriminalisation or legalisation?

I think there should be a probationary period in which weed is allowed to be sold by specific regulated vendors. For now, we'll ignore the fact that this will inevitably be a quango-type enterprise. During the probationary period: Gardai, health professionals, government types etc; can monitor the v...

Their behavior screams of moralistic self-righteousness. I not really concerned about their beliefs, there are plenty non-religious people equally as sententious. They have absolutely no problem with having a go at anyone for perceived slights. They all live in an ego bubble and they get a brain-wro...

Re: The Decline of the Print Media

I used to buy a paper everyday, sometimes two.
I had a few online subscriptions over the years, newspapers and news magazines mostly.

I don't buy any papers or subscriptions anymore.

Im not paying to be an captive audience member for whatever fashionable agenda is being sold.
