Whats the time limit for a ninja edit?

I can't seem to work it out? Sometimes it seems quite short, other times I think I've done edits half an hour or so after posting but still don't get the last edited note at the bottom of the post?

Not sure of the specific parameters, but as a rule if there's been a new post since the one you're editing, the "Last edited" note appears immediately; I think this happens also if the post has been thanked. If there hasn't been any interaction with the thread between your first post and the edit, the edit simply replaces the previous one as your last contribution with no indication that it's been edited.

That would explain the variable time for ninja edits.
