Ok lads and lassies, I take your point. I suppose when you come off boards you need a place to vent why you left or are thinking of leaving. Get it out of your system so to speak. I'm over that a long time ago but I guess I'm not thinking of people who are fresh in or pissed at the vanilla thing.
I don't think Gubs will allow the type of moderation you refer to Bertie. It's one of the reasons I'm sticking with this site.
My point in all of this is let us get on with getting this site going and create something we can say we all had a small part in shaping and developing.

Probably for the best, a clean break from the other site is necessary. I've been guilty more than most of dredging up old scores, time to move on and prioritise gubu alone.

I have moved it into Housekeeping so it is less prominent but unless there is a good reason to close it I am not planning to do so - ironically enough it descending into a bicker about whether or not to close might turn out to be a good reason!
By way of explanation, one of the most important modding principles is we are not going to get into the habit of shutting down threads simply because some posters don't like them, and that applies to a thread on any subject.
I don't particularly care for this thread, but it is by some distance the busiest thread on the site both in terms of posts and views, so it suggests that some people do have an interest in it, and it is not my place or anybody else's to deny them that simply because I do not like it. If you don't like it, just ignore it.
For the avoidance of doubt all feedback/suggestions/input are welcome, so please don't take it the wrong way if you're one of the posters who has requested the closure of this thread and I have ignored the request.

Well that is really what this place needs in spades - peoples opinions put in writing.
Am I the only one to notice that there's been a serious fall-off in posting recently and the numbers online at any time despite a slow trickle of new members? It's very depressing to see that's it just a handful of us keeping the place ticking over. The other place, which I'm never going back to regardless of what happens here, is doing no better so why the reluctance to give this place a go?
There will only ever be a tiny tiny percentage of members of public forums who will ever post on the forums they have joined, that is just the nature of it. It might be that 5% of members posting is a large amount even - I don't know the stats on those kinds of things.
There is an old philosophical story I heard ages ago which I find very motivating in ordinary life, although maybe it just explains my comfortable lack of ambition If you are an archer and you are shooting for a big prize then the body is nervous and can miss, but if you shoot for buttons you are steadier. Just means don't look at the outcome (prize), just do. For nothing. For no particular reason. Just for the sake of the doing. If this site is a just a minor blip in the time- space continuum, so what? If this place is short lived or long lived, so what? It is what it is just now. Like life!! Shoot for buttons

My enforced recent hiatus was due to a heart attack out of the blue. Thankfully it was not a full blown affair, as I had an inkling well before any damage was done, and just had a couple of stents fitted, and now back on the road to recovery.
Just back now after a 5k cycle, only 2 weeks out of hospital, so all is good. I am always in tune with what my body is telling me, and I am glad I acted this time.
I think you will always get the core posters who post their experiences/views/feelings on most topics on the forums which is a great thing. And then those who chose not too, and thats fine too, and wont change much I dont think. But I would urge those who take the time to log in, come on and post a a thread once in a while.
I just think there is a limit to things we can control in life. You cannot even control if you will breathe one more time. Control what you can and accept what you cannot.
