Machinery / Vehicle auctions

#1

Post by 765489 »

I'm planning on selling some selling some agricultural machinery and a tractor that are surplus to requirements and was thinking of going down the auction route. I've sold on donedeal before and I find it a pain in the ass with regard to tyre kickers and wasters offering part exchanges and ridiculous "cash" offers.

What are people's opinions on auctions? There are a few auction houses in Dublin and one in Laois. I've read some of the Google reviews on some of them and I'm starting to think is this the way to go or not.

Anyone have any experience at selling at these ? And what are the pitfalls I need to be aware of.

Just kidding.

Selling quality used tractors (vintage) and the only place that comes to mind is https://www.fmchomes.com/auctions-by-fmc but they are in Ballymoney, Co.Antrim.

DoneDeal where there's no feedback system is very poor - how about Adverts.ie ?

Thanks again lads. I've had a look at some of the auction houses in Dublin and Laois. One in Laois is more agricultural based. There's a man I know that gets rid of a lot of plant every so often so will see who he uses.

I may have to bite the bullet and use done deal but it means it will be a long drawn out affair as will need to keep the big tractor to turn the plough or power another implement if some wants to see it run. The small tractor will not handle these implements. Gonna get a burner number. Was plagued with phone calls and texts on my personal phone, talking hundreds in two days. Mostly time wasters.

I'm aware of adverts Del. I could never take that site seriously for some reason. Not sure why!

If I go down the auction route will let ye know how I get on.

I have recently used facebook marketplace for buying a a few items .

Its not something I normally use at all. But on the couple of occasions I did, it was better than dungdeal.

I agree with you, but the only reason I have one is to stay in contact a family member who has a significant handicap. :)
