Have you ever been caught procrastinating?

#1

Post by Apelles »

The OH pulled me up on it earlier.
Lacking motivation the last few weeks. Some days, I'd rather do anything than my paid work which I'm both really busy and way behind with.

Hence, I'm posting on here again instead of getting down to business.

Do any of ye procrastinate, and what do you do to get yourself focused again?

I hear there's a rehab for serial procrastinators. It just hasn't opened yet:)

Oh always. Sure I went into the tread twice before posting on it!

Well if putting the stuff from yesterday's list onto today's list, and putting the stuff from today's list onto tomorrow's list is procrastinating, then hell yeah! I do love heavily crossing stuff off my lists though, scribbling over the words with excess lines and curls, so that keeps me motivated.

I'm a list addict. I have them in bound notebooks. All the old pages scribbled over. But there's a lot of satisfaction in it. And when I get to the end of each notebook I burn them. Like an exorcism. If any plan or project bothers me because I can't get to it yet, I add it to the future lists part of the book. It really alleviates my mind. 😁

I mostly catch myself procrastinating more than anyone else tbh. That said, I usually arrest it and take care of business. The jobs that I put off the most are the ones I think will be the most challenging and think that I have a high risk of doing it wrong, the slow way or outright effing it up.
When I eventually set about doing it I get it done well enough and feel a great deal of satisfaction and probably relief to take it of the list.
Once I get over the hard part of starting, it flows pretty easy from there.

An interesting question.

Let me come back to it later.

I've had your dodgy psychiatrist thread open in a tab of its own since you first posted it, meaning to offer a serious reply ... But now I'm about to take the laptop on a plane, so have to shut it down.

Does that count?
