RTÊ irredeemably cheap not showing Liverpool v Real Madrid tonight. They can play inflated salaries to entitled wasters, yet spendthrift in regard of public demand. Defund RTË immediately, taxpayer money squandered with scant reward in return. Over to Dr. Bobson & textbook case in schizophrenia.

That passed the time.
It would have passed in any case.

Well if they had the rights they would have showed the game. Why didn’t they have the rights? Because they didn’t pay for it?Return of the Mac wrote: ↑Wed Nov 05, 2025 9:55 am I don't think RTE have the rights for Tuesday night matches
From 2021-2024 they had the right to show one game on a Tuesday.

Champions League will eventually follow the EPL and become completely paywalled. It's inevitable, the clubs are in it for whatever they can get. The rights are becoming so prohibitively expensive that broadcasters will have to charge a subscription as advertising revenue alone won't be enough to make a desired profit.
Does the uk have any free to air ucl games anymore?

Yes, we should be grateful for the free-to-air matches we have now, they won't be around for much longer.Boardsie Exile wrote: ↑Wed Nov 05, 2025 8:58 pm Champions League will eventually follow the EPL and become completely paywalled. Try travelling to see a match. My Grandson lives in England and attended Utd v Notts Forest recently. Very little change out of €500 travelling from Wiltshire to Manchester, match ticket, meals, a couple of pints and a programme. Just one day.
I remember when I used to go religiously once a month and could manage it quite easily, the greed that has seeped into football is unimaginable. Paying players up to €500,000 a week is just mind boggling and to pay for that the public is being creased at every turn Maybe it's time for a boycott.

100% - up to COVID I went every home game, can’t do more than half now - they fleece you at every turn.marhay70 wrote: ↑Thu Nov 06, 2025 10:20 am Try travelling to see a match. Re: Soccer Stuff
Can't say I've ever seen the reigning PL Champions given such a lesson as Liverpool were yesterday. Notwithstanding the "offside" goal, they were always second best and it was a question of how many City would score. Being a United supporter, I didn't have any skin in the game and it was easy to be objective, Liverpool are not up to it this season, whether this is due to Arne Slot or just a general malaise in the team is arguable, but none of the much vaunted "stars", were up to the task at hand. City, on the other hand, gave a master class in game management. Doku and O'Reilly on the left, were just brilliant, Liverpool had no answer, Salah was rubbish once again. Silva, is he 21 or 31, was snapping at everybody's heels and Liverpool hadn't the stomach for it.
All in all, an excellent performance by City and I'll bet Artete is a little less comfortable this morning.

Re: Soccer Stuff
Hard to know if City are really back or a case of rising to the big occasion. If they are finding top gear again then they'll win the league - Arsenal won't be able to fend them off.
The gooners have a super tough run of games coming with three London derbies on the bounce and Bayern in the middle of all that. By comparison City have a run of games during the same period that "should" be winnable. The league table could look very different by the first week of December.

I am ever the optimist. The missus is out and I will have the house to myself so I'll be drinking beer and eating gunk while watching football. It is making me happy.
