One of my favourite threads on another site so I thought I'd give it a go here.

No pics from yesterday (as I was on the bike pedalling like mad and getting nowhere) but there was a 4 door beige MK2 Escort in the local hall carpark, a clean Fiat 500 (a proper original one) outside the pub and a '88 Nissan Sunny daily driver outside the local church.

Next time I'll bring the phone on the bike!

What is observed in Ireland is the influence of SIMI on Government policy in concert with Insurnace Companies dealing with the high cost of injury claims by making practically all old cars uninsurable.
That's true.

I remember going around Garmisch-Partenkirchen, a small wealthy resort town in the Bavarian Alps. If you want an idea of the wealth, this is a small town & hinterland with the population of Carlow Town and it has its own Porsche Dealer! When I was there, seeing E39 & E36 BMW's was not unusual, along with plenty of '90's Opel's VW's, etc.

Here once it's over 10 years old, it's time to get rid of it.

I'd forgotten about Hillman ( except the Imp :D )
The way the rear bumper returns almost to the rear wheel seems to be abnormal for the Hunter
Having a vinyl roof marks it out as a fancy pants spec version, so maybe it came with extra bumper too ?

That could be the Humber Sceptre, a rebadged Hunter.
Good example here;
