Ambitious plans proposing the reopening of the old GNR 'Derry Road' from Portadown to Derry have been back in the news recently but sadly nobody in authority north or south of the border is showing much interest. If ever a project deserved consideration this is it but Brexit means that it would be unlikely to be able to tap into EU funding. In any event, if it's not a motorway, or a greenway, nobody in the Dail is going to be interested.

The Derry Road - the Railway that refuses to die?
Re: The Derry Road - the Railway that refuses to die?
The missing piece in this jigsaw is Sligo to Derry
Or
Reopen Sligo to Enniskillen.
This is rocket science though beyond the northern rail or Irish rails thinking.
