True Story:

Many years ago late at night whilst returning home after a red eye from Heathrow I was driving southbound on the M50 when I was confronted by a car travelling the wrong way towards me between the Ballymun and Finglas exits.

I immediately dialed 999 and was put through to Finglas. I explained what was happening.......and the response?

"Shure by the time we get there he'll be gone".

Shocked, I asked for the Garda's name and number. I was given the bad line treatment. I tried following up with it and was given the complete run around and eventually was asked by a particularly smart ass Garda was I on on my phone myself when I rang in to the Garda Station....in other words I was now the problem, I gave up at that point.
