I'd really love to have been able to introduce O'Broin to a neighbour of ours up to two years ago. This was a guy with a partner and two children, who absolutely terrorised his near neighbours, dealt drugs in the neighbourhood, allowed his children to run riot in the area, urinating and defecating in peoples' gardens, damaging their property and intimidating other children.
This was under what was known as a RAS tenancy, in which the landlord was paid X and the Co. Council X+, nobody seemed to have a responsibility for these people and that was the case for years until we finally nailed the Council on a duty of care issue.
This crowd did a moonlight flit, leaving almost €20,000 in arrears of rent owing to the council and when last I heard they were living in another Council house in another area of the country.
On top of all this, we, the taxpayer, in the guise of the Councile, were obliged to spend €60.000 returning the house to its former state.
At no time, during the tenancy did any representative of the Council, or, despite requests, An Garda Siochana, visit the house.

On today's show BOC heard from a guest that the guest had to close one of his restaurants "The Tatar" the most recently opened, just before the pandemic.
The guest is unhappy about the cost of wages.
Brendan asked the guest has he difficulty getting staff.

It was such a depressing show that I only grabbed a few minutes of it including the restaurant bit. Imagine, the hospitality industry pays rubbish wages and treats staff badly and people don't want to work in it. Mad isn't it.
