Your Worst British Comedies

Post by Dec A Wash »

Following on from a reference in another thread, what British comedies do you hate/dislike the most?

Here are ones that spring to mind for me:
Last of the Summer Wine - Number 1 in any of my lists!
Hi-de-Hi
Allo Allo
It Aint Half Hot Mum - I did give it a chance for a while and then I thought what am I doing with myself!

The Catherine Tate Show had a few funny sketches but it was mostly filler.
I think it's called Outnumbered. A sitcom starring either Punt or Dennis.
Fresh Meat. The Scottish guy annoyed me so much it turned me off the show.
The Vicar of Dibley.
My Family. Almost all the characters in it were annoying.

British comedies where you could see the gag three miles before it happened:

On the Buses. in one epsidoe they go on trike the bus drivers
in another epsiode a driver tries to paint his house inside on the cheap.

Trry and June. boring more than anything

Oh My God! Crossed Wiresville, Arizona :D
Reggie Perrin was a terrible modern remake of the fall and rise which was of course super. I wouldn't recommend it to any fans of the original.

Thank God, I had forgotten there had been a remake as I had never seen it. I've no TV since Saorview and don't miss it. :D

I never liked The Royle Family. I thought it was boring, overrated crap. Could never understand what people saw in it.
Also, The Mighty Boosh. Again I just didn't get it at all, and I like Noel Fielding's comedy in general, but not this.

Arguably, although I only saw it briefly, Solo, starring Felicity Kendall, could figure in my worst list.

Ha!! It might look like I am taking the piss after our interaction on the Unpopular Opinion thread, but seriously? Partridge is AMAZING!!!!!!

We seem to be very different people!!

I don't want a nemesis this early into my GUBU journey. Lets agree to disagree

Ya you know what. Its probably Steve coogan annoys me more than Alan partridge.

I used to love it and then I started rewatching it and maybe I had built it up to something that it wasn't

I'm not gonna argue Alan partridge as I dunno if I believe my above statement 😁

Not Going Out.
They made a british version of married with children in the 90s starring Russ Abbott as Al Bundy. It was awful, here's a taster.
