I'm on a roll recently and tonight discovered a replacement for "Goliath" - "Trapped" an Icelandic crime thriller. Twenty-eight episodes and I've just watched four on the trot. Many of my favourite features - atmospheric snowy scenes, foreign language with sub titles, a cast of actors that I don't know and a cracking plot.

The Fury (Rapl) 2016
Czech crime series with English subtitles. Another 5 star effort!
Two seasons (26 hour long episodes) and well worth a watch.

Binged put on Sherlock series 4 last night (all three episodes).

Been a long time since I saw it and enjoyed it. I'm wondering if there'll be a series 5.

After a blow-out on European crime TV shows I was at a bit of loss to know what to start on next when I came across the "Inspector George Gently" BBC series which somehow I had never watched before. Set in the North of England in the 1960's much of the filming was done in Ireland (Greystones and Howth feature in the first season) and it's much better than many British police series. Martin Shaw (The Professionals) stars in the lead role and puts in an excellent performance.
Sadly the show ended in 2017 and only ran to 25 episodes.

"The Diplomat" (2009) (190 mins)

Watched this over two nights. Action thriller involving suitcase nukes, the Russian mafia, M16 and the Australian police. Stars Dougray Scott.
SPOILER:
Not bad but the ending lets it down
5/10

"Reacher" (2022)

An Amazon Original 8-part TV series. Crime thriller with enough violence and mayhem to make you stay watching. I enjoyed it, certainly not too taxing on the grey matter and, most importantly, lots of just retribution. A second series has just been commissioned. 8/10

A new dose of Star Trek SciFi started yesterday Star Trek: Picard, not sure about it yet after just the one episode which did far to much looking back but it still wasn't bad.

If anyone wants a good laugh at people with unfortunate taste in fashion may I suggest Love, Lust or Run which is new to Prime.

Final offering for those that like the Midsummer Murders, Murder She Wrote type mysteries do a search on Prime for the Garage Sale Mystery there's a hole rake of them but not the whole series yet.

Another new one I've found on Prime, might not be new to everyone but I'd not heard of it before Stan Against Evil. Its total rubbish but funny and the characters are good.

Perhaps not as good as the better known Ash vs Evil Dead but in a similar vein.

"Star Trek: Picard" (2020-)

I grew up with the 'we come in peace, shoot to kill ' William Shatner Star Trek (on black and white TV) and never really took to the later series and movies etc. and thus it was with some trepidation that I started into this a few days ago. Surprise, surprise - it's really good - and I have been rationing myself to just two episodes an evening which is always a good sign. Patrick Stewart stars and at eighty, as he was for the first series which aired in 2020, is excellent.

Was looking forward to the next episode of Star Trek; Pickard | Season 2 episode 2 but they have played the Q card which means they don't have a decent plot so will resort to be doing anything daft to make up a story.

Could easily be the last episode of Pickare S02 I bother with. S01 was OK, not great but this is worse.

"Outer Range" (2022)

A paranormal series with a difference set in present day Wyoming cattle ranching country. Hooked from the first few minutes...two episodes are released each week and we are now up to # .4. Give it a whirl you won't regret it.

One day I went for a walk (last week) and got hopelessly lost in a beech forest I had never explored. Then it started to pour rain. In the 90 minutes I was trying to find my way out from among dense trees and undergrowth, Amazon Prime computer bots phoned me twice, and when I finally got out, about a mile away from my car, Amazon Prime phoned me again on the trudge back to it. I drove home drenched and knackered, opened my laptop immediately and cancelled the shagging subscription. Take that, Amazon Prime, ye shower of absolute gobshytes. 👍
Thinking out loud, and trying to be occasionally less wrong...

Well, I can't complain about Amazon Prime as I am enjoying all the benefits free of charge due to some glitch. I cancelled my sub some months back.

Just finished "The Ambassador" and fell over this one last night - "DCI Banks" (2010-16) an ITV series.

I couldn't stand Stephen Tompkinson as the priest in the woeful "Ballykissangel" TV series but he's fine in the lead role here - so far. There are 32 episodes so that will keep me going for a while.

Just finished watching "Fargo" season .4. - superlatives to describe it fail me. No loose ends either. 10+/10

I have Amazon Prime. Great for ordering stuff and not paying postage.

But anything I want to watch on Prime Video is "unavailable in your country"

Any way around this?

Binged on it last weekend. I thought it started off really but I felt it got increasingly far fetched towards the end.

Just watched the final episode a few minutes ago and I agree with you as it ended veering off into "Lost" territory - a series which I found unwatchable. I see the jury is still out as to whether there will be a second series but I'd say they will go for it. I'll watch it if it comes back.

This one had slipped through my radar for some reason - it's been running for several seasons and it's pretty good! I like James Spader as the protagonist.

The first 2/3 seasons were very good. Unfortunately it got progressively sillier after that. James Spader is however excellent in it
