In light of the recent sad demise of Gene Hackman, I thought that this might be as good a time as any to look back on his film work.
My favourites included The French Connection, The French Connection 2, The Firm, Absolute Power and The Birdcage.

As well as Mississippi Burning and Unforgiven. You also can't forget Superman, the one that introduced me to him as a kid.
The thing about Hackman is, you could ask for his 10 best performances, but there's more than 10 correct answers, a truly brilliant actor

Will add The Conversation, Night Moves & Crimson Tide to that esteemed list. Every Hackman performance lended gravitas, versatility his greatest strength. Unforgettable.

Re: Your Favourite Films With Gene Hackman
Even though they are probably not his very best films and in places are laughably unrealistic, I'd pick.
Behind Enemy Lines
Crimson Tide
I feel that there are some similarities between the characters he plays in both films.
Also, Hackman and Denzel going toe to toe over the launching of nuclear weapons - film making doesn't get much better than that.

Mississippi Burning - with The Firm close behind and an honorable mention for The Birdcage.
