The Worst Irish Movies ever made..

#1

Post by Del.Monte »

There are many that fall into this category but, for me, "Fatal Deviation" (1998) an Irish Martial Arts movie, is head and shoulders above the rest.

Here's what I had to say about it on my Irish Movie blog: https://irelandsmovies.wordpress.com/f/

Image

and here's the full movie for you to enjoy.

At least there was a couple of motorbikes in it.

Edit, there's motor bikes in this aswell... but not as exciting as the wall of death.

Nice to see a former member of Boyzone's neck being broken on screen at the end. I'll give it a 5 out of 10 for that alone.

Film should be called Honkie Con.

Yes, them boys must have been watching too many Chuck Norris films. They must have been all on the dole together and just came up with this for something to do. The gun fight was funny. Highlight of the movie was the fire lighting under the bath to heat the water.

Can we have a nod for "Leap Year" ? I know we are the location and not responsible for the rest of the shite but still!

Lands in Wales and gets a boat across to Ireland via Cork ??

Takrs three days to travel up from Cork to Dublin ??? One train a day ???

Set in Cork apparently but filmed in the Cliffs of Moher which are in Clare ??

I spent that entire film going "oh for f..." on repeat!!!

Another classic "Cry of the Innocent" 1980.
A made for TV movie based on the novel by Frederick Forsyth and starring Rod Taylor - beyond woeful.

Steven Donegan (Rod Taylor), is an American insurance executive whose life is turned upside down after his wife and children are killed when a private plane crashes into their seaside cottage in Ireland. Donegan learns that the aircraft carried secret plans for a new industrial process worth millions and that the ruthless head of an international conglomerate is responsible for the act of sabotage. Driven by vengeance, former Green Beret Donegan recovers the briefcase containing the formula and launches a relentless mission to bring the murderers to justice.

Pure muck and I only gave it two turkeys - after watching a few minutes of it today I'm inclined to increase it two three - at least. When I tell you that Cyril Cusack is also in the cast you know where this is going and “faith and begorrah” and "top of the morning to you"....

I have Cry Of The Innocent on DVD. It was in one of those 50 movie packs I picked up in Texas about 15 years ago. Not great.

Just watched another on my research list "Pursuit" 2015 on YouTube.
Dreadful stuff and definitely belongs in this thread. At least I saved a few quid as I was about to buy the DVD before I came across it on YouTube.

Possible future contender ?

Looks like a very low budget version of a James Bond film. Doesn't look great in my opinion.

Is there anything Michael Fathead can't do? Tap Dancer, Artist and now Movie Star. 'Dancelord Productions' indeed....what a pretentious git.

According to the Irish Times "I didn’t finance it because I wanted to make a vanity project," Flatley told the Hollywood Reporter."It would have just taken too long to raise the money, and I didn’t know what I’d be doing next year."

"Charlie Casanova" (2011) is another contender.
I can only surmise that a lot of drugs were involved during its production.
Foolishly I bought the DVD for research purposes and now it looks like I'm stuck with it.

Strumpet City may have been bleak but it shouldn't even be mentioned on this thread as it one of the best series ever to air on Irish TV.
PS poor "Rashers" starved/froze to death and while he may have been nibbled at where he lay in the coal cellar he wasn't 'swarmed' by rats.
