For me, it has to be Carlitos Way.. great in scent of a woman and few other earlier movies but for me Carlitos way just about edges it

The pool trick shot scene was brilliant.

Serpico, still a great film for its age.

His movies from about the year 2000 took an absolute nose dive. Similar story for alot of actors.

Does there come a point where actors decide money trumps creativity ? Youd imagine the older the actor gets the more financially secure they are and they could be more selective on roles

For me, Al Pacino's best performances were in The Godfather, The Godfather Part 2, Scarface, Heat and Scent of a Woman. The next tier down - worth a mention - would be And Justice for All, The Godfather Part 3, Dog Day Afternoon, Serpico and Insomnia.

Carlito's Way: Gritty. DOWNBEAT true to life and unflinchingly so. Gangster tries to get clean. Sean Penn NAILS PART as his coke addicted corrupt lawyer who throws a memorable outdoor orgy of a party in his client's honour.

Agree. The film leans on good story line and great characters and less on gun shoot outs and car chase scenes. An absolute classic of a movie

Scent of a woman
(forget the driving the ferrari bit)

HEAT. De Nero outshines him as the main villain

Probably because it takes the piss out of SPORT.

(I'd say there are one or two America football fans on GUBU too.)

I'd get carded for this post on that other site.

I suppose the thread is his greatest movies. Any given Sunday is a good movie but I would think falls short of some of the movies mentioned above

Outshines Depp by a mile.
