I've seen the Banshees of Inisherin and enjoyed it well enough when I did, but now that I've seen that video, the whole thing makes a lot more sense.Bishop_Brennan wrote: ↑Mon Mar 27, 2023 6:30 pm I saw Banshees of Inisherin on Friday....

Re: What did you watch last night?
I've always been a big fan of Westerns, from the TV series like "Bonanza" and "The Virginian" that I grew up with, to those from the big screen starring the likes of John Wayne, Henry Fonda, Clint Eastwood and Lee Van Cleef but over the last few days I have watched three more recent movies on a Western box set - which cost me all of 47 cents!
"Open Range"(2003) - Kevin Costner, Robert Duvall, Michael Gambon.
"Broken Trail" (2006) Robert Duvall, Greta Scacchi.
"Silverado" (1985) - Full of interesting actors including John Cleese, Kevin Kline, Brian Dennehy, Jeff Goldblum and Danny Glover.
All superb but if there's one worth checking out more than the others it's "Open Range" see trailer.

Re: What did you watch last night?
Today I picked up a copy of the classic "The Big Sleep" (1978) with Robert Mitchum starring as the jaded private dick, Philip Marlowe, and it reminded me that I hadn't see the earlier Mitchum/Marlowe outing "Farewell My Lovely" (1975) for ages. It's harder to find on DVD and I wanted it now - once again YouTube provided. Although the sound is ever so slightly out of sync, it does not detract - it's that kind of movie.

Re: What did you watch last night?
While Its probably unethical to do so, I've been using a certain free website to cast HD quality, movies etc to the TV. Last night we watched 65.

Never liked "Murder She Wrote" but liked Angela Lansbury - whizzed past her on the road in West Cork many years ago.

My dad met her down there decades ago - a thoroughly lovely woman by all accounts.

Re: What did you watch last night?
I always enjoyed Murder She Wrote. It was easy going fare. You always Jessica would get her man/women in the end. In general it wasn't too difficult to figure out who the murderer was. And it had a fabulously jaunty theme tune
Re: What did you watch last night?
Remember in the 80's when Murder She Wrote was constantly on daytime RTE, along with Hart to Hart and Remington Steel.
Re: What did you watch last night?
And now Murder She Wrote & Hart to Hart are regularly on TG4. I haven't seen Remington Steel on TV in a long time

Re: What did you watch last night?
Remington Steele was woeful and the Irish episode "Steele Your Heart Away" is right up there with "Wild Irish Thyme".Happy Days wrote: ↑Mon Apr 10, 2023 11:56 am And now Murder She Wrote & Hart to Hart are regularly on TG4. I haven't seen Remington Steel on TV in a long time

Re: What did you watch last night?
Damn you I'd forgotten all about that until you mentioned it. It was truly dreadful
Re: What did you watch last night?
Thank goodness for that, in fairness it wasn't great back then so I doubt it's stood the test of time.
Another similar 'detective duo' show I've just thought of from that era, and haven't seen since back then was Moonlighting. Doubt that's watchable nowadays either.
