Slane 2026...
... is to be headlined by US country singer Luke Combs no less!! No, I never heard of him either, but I havn't been keeping up with 'country' music' for many years. Not since the Eagles anyway! What would the late Lord Henry think I wonder?

Never heard of him either but the bit they played on the news was bloody awful.

Just added a second date. Must be confident of getting a huge crowd. Personally I thought he'd struggle to sell out one night

Ohh FFS The Eagles were not country.
Some of their stuff particularly when they had Randy Meisner and Bernie Leaden in the early years was what is termed "country rock".
But they were never country music.
Ever heard of a fellow called Garth Brooks by any chance or maybe even Johnny Cash?
Re: Slane 2026...
Luke Combs is famous for a version of Fast Car by Tracy Chapman.
Then again there are country versions of Avicii's Wake Me Up although that is not that unusual since Avicii had used US country/bluegrass singers for vocals on some tracks.

Garth Brooks has done nothing, absolutely nothing, to deserve being mentioned in the same breath as Johnny Cash.jmayo wrote: ↑Wed Oct 15, 2025 7:48 pm Ohh FFS The Eagles were not country.

When I think of pure country I always think of Hank Williams and GeorgeJones. GB is a fraud.
I quite liked the first Eagles album. But my friend scraped off "Peaceful Easy Feeling "with the compass from a geometry set.

That passed the time.
It would have passed in any case.
Yes, but not so rapidly
