I never get tired of Pink Floyd - their music was so far ahead of everything else that it hasn't dated in the slightest.

Re: What are you listening to at the moment?
Way back in the mid-1990s I was at a dreadful Bord Failte gig in Sligo where they were launching a video and I remember the best thing about it was the soundtrack. Naive old me thought that Bord Failte had commissioned the music for the video and it was only some years later that I found out that it was a single "Dreams" by some group called the Cranberries. Being 1970s teenager I had little time for Irish groups and with a culchie sounding name like that I thought no more of it. Here it is - apologies for the poor quality.
I had little or no time for music in those years and the next time I heard of the Cranberries it was to do with somebody called Dolores O'Riordan being arrested at Shannon Airport for being involved in an 'air rage' incident. Being the judgemental type that I am I felt no empathy for her and thought that she deserved whatever punishment the court handed down.
The next time I heard about Dolores O'Riordan was of her untimely death in London in January 2018. In recent times I have read a lot about her, listened to interviews and of course her music - what a tragic, beautiful person she was, and what a stunning performer - as for the voice. As she is supposed to have said herself during the air rage incident "I’m an icon, I’m the queen of Limerick"....and she was! RIP.

Another record that I always associate with cramming for the Leaving Cert. Hugely enjoyable with great hooks. Looking forward to diving in to this, starting with the Long Lost LP Cut.

I still remember hearing "The Seven Seas of Rhye" for the first time back in the early 1970s - I bought the single at the first opportunity and it's still one of my favourite Queen tracks.

A classic single - one of their best. That first Greatest Hits album (came out for Christmas 1981) is a savage compilation.

About 25M so certainly up there. After they played Live Aid, it shot back up the charts. I remember quite a few people going into my local record shop looking to buy it on the Monday.Happy Days wrote: ↑Sat Nov 19, 2022 11:43 am A fantastic Best Of Album. One last Queen video for today. But a brilliant version of Lap Of The Gods from 1974

Just loved the movie, the music and, of course, the off the wall performance by Robin Williams.
