Re: Johnny Rotten to sing for Ireland....
Does anybody care about this contest which was past its sell by date before the turn of the century? I haven't seen it since Michael Flatley stole the show and that was only because it was on in the pub.

I'd personally prefer to have my eyes pulled out with a rusty back hoe than watch that "competition"
Re: Johnny Rotten to sing for Ireland....
Since when did Johnny Rotten and sing belong in the same sentence? Although I suppose singing hasn't really been a requirement of entrants for a long time now. It should be renamed the "Eurovision Freak Show" contest

Well, UK punk rock always had a strong marketing dimension.

Ohhhhh ... well that explains why I never heard of him.
So his qualifications to represent Ireland are ... ?
On second thoughts, treat that as a rhetorical question, coz I don't care one way or the other.

I have just breezed through his very substantial Wiki entry and I have revised my opinion of the man - seems to be a decent sort: https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/John_Lydon His parents were Irish hence his eligibility to represent Ireland in the Eurovision.

I get the impression that John Lydon is a rather clever man and a smart onlooker on society.
As for him representing us in the Eurovision, we could do a lot worse. We did with Dustin.....
