Cassettes were not a good format. Fine for making mixtapes or taping LPs onto. But not as a primary source. I bought very few. Having said that, they did serious damage to vinyl sales from 1983 onwards so their (slight) return is quite perplexing.
In 1988 out of every six new albums sold, four were on cassette.

I've a big box of music cassette tapes which I will probably never play again but I cannot get myself to throw them out. Same with CDs, hundreds of them which I will never open as I have them on the computer.

Charity shop or bring to a Fair? I never dump anything - one of the charity shops in Enniscorthy still takes VHS tapes.

I might do that Del. Someone might have a use for them. Just need to double check the CDs to make sure I have them on the computer.

Hard drives can fail....
I recommend you hang onto them.
My primary means of playing music is either vinyl or CD through a turntable / CD player, amplifier and speakers. If playing from computer (Spotify or ITunes or downloads), I play through Bluetooth.
Much prefer physical formats and I buy stuff every week but appreciate that it's not for everyone.
