Apparently, The Assembly was a project involving keyboardist Vince Clarke (Depeche Mode, Yazoo, Erasure) and recording engineer and producer Eric Radcliffe. They got Feargal Sharkey as guest vocalist and the plan was to use different vocalists for each song. Unfortunately, other than the instrumental B Side featuring Vince, there were no further recordings.

A whole album worth of different vocalists would have been great. The 12" mix of Never Never is excellent as well.

Bit like Fatboy Slim, formerly of the Housemartins, Beats International, Pizzaman and Freak Power, think he's had no. 1s in 4 different guises.
Norman Cook, aka Fatboy Slim, was involved with No. 1s in 3 different guises: with The Housemartins, with Beats International and as Fatboy Slim. He did not get to No. 1 with Pizzaman or Freak Power. We are crossing into the 1990s here!

A one hit wonder in the UK (in terms of Top 40 anyway) - I Love Rock and Roll by Joan Jett and The Blackhearts.

Correctly categorised as an 80s hit.

This contrasts with The B-52s Love Shack which although included on Cosmic Thing (released July 1989) didn't come out as single in UK / Europe until March 1990. But is often incorrectly included on 80s compilations.
