Train Themed Tunes
Always thought of emailing John Creedon or the like requesting a programme devoted to train related songs - there are surely enough of them and some quite good - others not.
One of the earliest that comes to mind is the "Chattanooga Choo Choo" is a 1941 song first performed by Glen Millar.

"Spanish Train" by Chris de Burgh - great song but I don't like the man since he closed down my old school.

One for you Del. Edit just thinking Eamonn Ryan would have a heart attack if he saw that video
Pat Metheny - Last Train Home. He's a couple of different variations of this song.

"Train running low on soul coal" by XTC. IMO, this acoustic version is better than the one on the album.

Didn't poor old Boxcar get his big break with Westrail (Tuam) in June 1986?

Gun Club's Black Train:
While the song might be interpreted as racist, JLP himself wasn't but often used a character 'voice'. He was deeply immersed in southern gospel, psychobilly, and blues.

Not sure that posts from someone called Cyclepath should be allowed in this thread but it's better than Greenway - I suppose!
