Ye have my sympathies ... but that's the extent of it! Finally getting a hint of red in my tomatoes before the blight gets to them, so I'm starting to pick the bigger ones for window-sill ripening. Thermometer flirted with 30°C in the shade this afternoon before dropping back to the mid-twenties for the night.

The anticyclone that is bringing the hottest ever recorded temperatures to Europe at the moment (eg Sicily 48.8) is called ''Lucifer'', which seems very 2021. Could they not have called it Leonard or Liam or something?

Very aptly named IMO. You would associate Lucifer with hot temperatures, wouldn't you?

Any chance of Lucifer just brushing past us, just a little bit.As this week looks like slightly below average temps.

Alas no. There is a front coming in from the atlantic that is pushing it to the south and keeping it away from us. It's probably for the best, some heat would be nice but Lucifer would be OTT for us.

There's definitely an autumn feel to the early mornings and evenings the last week or so.

Yeap can definitely see it and feel it coming in. Would be nice to get a run of a couple of dry days.. badly needed for farmers trying to get corn harvested / ripened.

I wish our summers weren't so short, this year has been particularly short as it was awful up to early june, was nice for a bit of june and july, and august has been garbage so far again. I am absolutely dreading this winter too. I just want a few more days of hot weather. anyone else with me? =(

BBC weather advising a drier warmer weather pattern coming from the east next week - but NO heatwave. I suppose we should be thankful!

Really crap weather here in the 'Sunny South East' and has got worse as the day has worn on. Any chance of an Indian Summer in September I wonder - fingers crossed.

I've booked 3 days off next week when I read quodec's post earlier today :D I need to spend a day doing some painting outside before the winter.

Oh s**h! :o Don't blame the messenger if your paint is running in the rain!! I've a load of gardening and painting to do as well, so several dry days would be a real bonus!

The rain is coming down heavy in NCD. A belt of thunder earlier on. Won't be doing much outside today.

Coughs. 😎

I reported on Friday 13th...
Kind of a possibility of tiny wee signs of hope for a bit of an improvement from the end of next week into latter part of August. I can be no more definite than that!
