Re: Weather
Some really heavy downpours yesterday and today. I feel sorry for anyone holidaying in Ireland atm. Imagine camping in this weather.
Re: Weather
OMG your not my mother? June July and August everytime it rains she says it must be awful for anyone on holiday and imagine anyone camping this weather. She normally stops sometime in September after its been pointed out several times that the schools are long back and the summer holidays are long over.Uncle Frank wrote: ↑Sun Aug 08, 2021 9:44 am Some really heavy downpours yesterday and today. Re: Weather
Looks like I'm going to have to leave painting the pebble dash on the house till next year... could end up with different coloured walls by the time October comes around with all this rain we are getting.

Re: Weather
This is shaping up to be one of the wettest Augusts in years. That is really saying something, August was usually something of a washout here.

And yet really humid. Worst of both worlds.Uncle Frank wrote: ↑Wed Aug 11, 2021 11:26 am This is shaping up to be one of the wettest Augusts in years. That is really saying something, August was usually something of a washout here.

This has made it's way to North Wicklow, and I'm hoping it clears enough to get a glimpse of the Pleiades tonight

Lovely day here in midlands but the amount of rain that fell here during the night was unreal, thought it'd never stop. Very warm when sun comes out.

Nice evening here in Enniscorthy - should have gone for a walk but here I am. Last few Swifts screaming about outside won't be long before they are heading south and the summer is gone for another year.

I never watch any of these meteorite events as I'm a big Sci-Fi fan - especially of "The Day of the Triffids" - and I'm not kidding.Hodors Appletart wrote: ↑Wed Aug 11, 2021 1:35 pm This has made it's way to North Wicklow, and I'm hoping it clears enough to get a glimpse of the Pleiades tonight

Re: Weather
Blowing a gale here in South Kerry. Still dry though. Hopefully the wind dies as the day goes on.
Re: Weather
Sunny morning In NCD. Slight breeze. So far!
Edit spoke too soon, wind now starting to pick up.

Re: Weather
Feckin' weather ... 27°C feels like 40°C Had got used to the persistent on/off rain and pleasantly low-20s temps with a light breeze, and I was getting plenty of hard-labour jobs done around the garden. All of a sudden we're back to high summer since yesterday, and it's impossible to work.

Re: Weather
Almost 49 degrees centigrade in Sicily yesterday, the highest ever recorded temp in Europe! We should be thankful for small mercies!!!
Re: Weather
Kind of a possibility of tiny wee signs of hope for a bit of an improvement from the end of next week into latter part of August. I can be no more definite than that!
Thinking out loud, and trying to be occasionally less wrong...

We will cling to any shred of hope that summer hasn't ended yet Isha. Just a little bit more sun please

Re: Weather
Hmmm. Well maybe it wasn't the weather, or the lack of a Mexican gene. Had a rough 48 hours from just before the time of that post onwards - aching shoulder muscles and a woozy head. Don't know if it was a delayed reaction to the 2nd vacc (8 days delayed), whether I picked up a dose of the Delta due to indiscriminate socialising at the weekend, or a combination of working above head height while dust, pollen and impending thunderstorms played games with my sinuses ...CelticRambler wrote: ↑Thu Aug 12, 2021 12:52 pm Feckin' weather ... 27°C feels like 40°C Had got used to the persistent on/off rain and pleasantly low-20s temps with a light breeze, and I was getting plenty of hard-labour jobs done around the garden. In any case, normal service has been resumed and hard labour is back on the agenda - although I might go shopping this afternoon when the temps are forecast to tip into the thirties. Three days of that, then apparently we're going to lose 10° as strong winds carry it off to somewhere eastwards.
Re: Weather
Rain over night here in NCD but stopped now, hopefully it will start brightening up a bit. Day for the wellies.
