Say something nice about a run down place

I'll start with Rathmines

It has a MacDonalds which is midway between Grafton street and nutgrove.

Nice selection of cinemas.
It has a library. Better condition than city centre libraries.

Nice architecture. Even if clocks are wrong both in swan centre and big red clock

I'm going to say Portumna. Quite a few business premises closed, empty main street, almost dead at times.

However, the place is spotless, right on Lough Derg, decent forest park (spotted deer and pine Martin's) and there's a cafe there that has water bowls left outside for dogs. The workhouse museum is interesting

I've been there twice that I can recall, the first time it was still a village and the second time was a quick out and back on the Luas to tick off the Red Line in my tram-spotters notebook. Nice is not something that readily comes to mind when thinking of Tallaght but it's better than Leitrim.

Everyone knows Leitrim doesn't exist.

Surprised grey and grotty Phibsboro has been neglected from this list so far.

It has a MacDonalds.
St Peters Church.
Bargain Stores.

Oh, and dodgy Game Console Repair Place where they will wrap your XBox up in a blanket to well, reflow the solder inside the motherboard. This will "repair" the thing for another week.

Connection to Rathmines by Dublin Bus 83.

You should'nt be so biased folks! I know there was a Bank Of Ireland in Phibsboro too, but it closed like Rathmines.

Rathmines is closed - did they put a gate at each end of it?

Well, going way way way back, it was a road for the upper middle class. The front centre house beside the church in St Mary's College Rathmines is I believe a sole survivor of a line of houses.
On the opposite side of the road, the upper middle class resided. Their servants would live either on the top floor or in the basement.

Dundalk. It has yet to be bombed out of existence.

Another Ballina in Tipp that’s also rundown, great for pike, has a free natural water spring and I saw big Mick McCarthy eating there once (goosers).

Edit: Heuston station.
Full of tots in buggies, grannies, zoomers and backpacks.

The pub Galway Hooker inside the train station is grand as well.
Supermacs there is one of the better fast food restaurants.

Busaras

Great architecture. Watch out of the zombies and junkies though.

Ah no, Busaras is an abomination but you're right about the zombies and junkies - you wouldn't know there's a large Garda station just a few feet away from the building.
