I'm posting this as it reminds me of something similar that happened on the Borders of Kilkenny. Someone with a big estate, big house, massive gardens, stables, stud farm etc etc had just had all there drives tarmaced (a lot of tarmac) when they decided that the road outside could do with fixing up. The tarmac contractors started doing the road outside the house, iirc they were going to fix the potholes and do at least half a mile of proper tarmac from the end of the drive into the village, paid for by the owner of the house.
Guess what? The council fcuked them off and told them they couldn't do it.

Rod Stewart fills in potholes near his home as ‘no-one else can be bothered’
Re: Rod Stewart fills in potholes near his home as ‘no-one else can be bothered’
I know of one company with a large site outside of Cork that pays for the road salting. Their site is on an R road but the local roads are used as a shortcut. That road is salted by the company. That local road has a suspiciously smooth surface compared to the other roads in the area.
