Whacky / Niche appreciation societies
Whacky / Niche appreciation societies
I was searching the interwebs yesterday to see if there was a place in Ireland that sell new telegraph poles ( don't ask.. I eventually gave up on the idea )
On my virtual travels I stumbled on a site with members that go around taking photos of telegraph poles. I love these type of sites as first off they are outside the social media bubble so I don't have difficulty viewing them, but also you have to admire the passion the owner / members have for something so mundane.
Anyone else got any gems that are worth spending a few minutes looking at ?

Brilliant Del. I love round roofed hay barns. I've got about 30 old corrugated sheets stacked outside that I plan to do something with at some stage
Edit, them old falling down / open ended buildings are important for the swallows.

This isn't an appreciation society as such but more one man's effort to keep an area of collecting in the public eye. Phonecards never did it for me and with the advent of mobile phones the interest in them disappeared along with most public call boxes.

Fans of any RTE / Lyric FM presenter.
Fans of any RTE / TG4 / Virgin Media tv presenters.
There should really be a resort hotel complex built for you sad people and then there could be Ryan Tubridy / Joe Duffy/. Ray Foley weekends

Re: Whacky / Niche appreciation societies
Have to say I'm a big fan of Liz Nolan on Lyric FM. Great choices of music and a thoroughly enjoyable presenter to listen to. When Joe Duffy starts on RTE Radio 1 I usually switch over to her.
Marty Whelan and George Hamilton's music selections grate on my brain. John Kelly is ok at times but he has a penchant for playing obscure music which is obscure for a reason - its shite.
The only presenter I can think of that I like on RTE Radio 1 is John Creadon.

Marty Whelan's programmes are like a throwback to the days of Odlum's sponsored shows from the 1960's.
