Re: Christmas is coming
So, 8 puddings (handed down recipe) this weekend, and mincemeat (Darina's recipe, with my own twist)...kitchen smells divine. Plus, "Great Christmas movies" on d telly, and a rich candle really sets the vibe. Even though the sun is shining; tis about 16 - 18° out there. . Still in summer dress/sandals....

I had my first mince pie today from Dunnes. It was horrible. Something didn't taste right with the filling. Threw the box out....such a feckin let down
Re: Christmas is coming
Shop bought mince pies are never any good.
They have to be homemade.
Who do we know that might make their own mince pies ?

Bought ones would cut the teeth off you....I'd hate to see how they're made....
You know those stöllen bites?, you'd get them for a very short while in Lidl / Aldi cos they sell out very fast....absolutely adore them.
Re: Christmas is coming
The Christmas cake will be going into the oven shortly. I did bring back a load of the dried fruit from Spain for it as it's much nicer that the crap we get here.

Yum . This year for the first time, I bulk bought the dried fruit online. There's no comparison in the quality. Prepping the last 4 puds today, and the first 2 cakes. Water got into 1 of the last batch of puds, so we ate some of that today. Had it in the bottom oven of the Rayburn all morning to dry out a little - delishh. Can't believe - this time 10 weeks we'll be stuffed to the gills....🕯
