Annoyances & Irritations
Re: Annoyances & Irritations
RTE Player. The stream either consistently buffers or drops. Yet, funnily enough, I never seem to have an issue with the ads playing at the start

Re: Annoyances & Irritations
I have pihole set up on my network and seems to prevent the rte ads on the app. Won't fix the buffering though. Also not much use if you're using rte player outside your network unless you've a vpn set up to itHappy Days wrote: ↑Fri May 12, 2023 7:34 am RTE Player. Re: Annoyances & Irritations
As a non-resident, I gave up using RTE Player many years ago for that very reason. For certain live-streamed events, there were times when you'd have five, or even ten, pages of new comment on boards before the stream would finally start. Or, more often, re-start.Happy Days wrote: ↑Fri May 12, 2023 7:34 am RTE Player. The stream either consistently buffers or drops. Re: Annoyances & Irritations
I was watching the news the other night and there was a woman on talking about having ovarian cancer. She is in recovery now. It was a piece about how silent it can be.
So of course my non rational self grabbed on to it and ran down the rabbit hole. That funny period style pain when not actually having my period, that time my ankles looked swollen, feeling tired..... I'm fed up of meself being like this. Will still make an appointment with the doctor though

Re: Annoyances & Irritations
The funny periody pain could be mittelschmerz. Always worth getting ovarian stuff checked out. I've requested scans twice over the years, which proved to be large cysts. Because of the unconscionably long time one must sometimes wait to get scans, I've paid for them privately. Not unaffordable if one considers what goes into the upkeep of our cars.
Annoyance - horsetail. I'm trying hard to be Zen about the bucking bastarding stuff.

Oranges (of any size) that are difficult to peel. Skin comes off in tiny bits, your hands are covered in juice and it drips everywhere. Absolutely soul-destroying.

Instant gratification - that's me, and if I wasn't so ancient the internet era could have been made for me. I want everything and I want it now and with oranges....

As a Southside dub pretty fed up of traffic disruption caused by Dublin gaa match in croke park on a Sunday.
Sure Dublin winning is as surefire as going out to the shop and buying the paper.
At least I don't live in Galway or Kerry where you could be thrown in the fire for talking down the gaa.
Ran into someone like that a few years ago in supermacs in Eyre square Galway.

Genuinely curious. If you're a Southside Dub how does traffic disruption effect you. Croke Park in on the Northsidegugleguy wrote: ↑Mon May 15, 2023 1:02 pm As a Southside dub pretty fed up of traffic disruption caused by Dublin gaa match in croke park on a Sunday.

Isn't it annoying when you've listed something to sell on Adverts.ie, and some silly wanker, with no intention of buying, thinks it's hilarious to keep asking you stupid questions. 🖍
In the end you have no choice but to block them.

Re: Annoyances & Irritations
This one really gets me - radio presenters (yes it's Newstalk again) who think they sound smart pronouncing Budapest in what they perceive is the way natives of that city would. I mean when was the last time you heard any presenter refer to Paris as Pariee - but that's how locals pronounce it.
it seems that even Hungarians pronounce their capital city in the same way that English speakers do but that won't hold the illiterati of Newstalk back.

Saw this and thought of isha ...isha wrote: ↑Tue Apr 11, 2023 7:47 pm I have to admit this is an annoyance. Over the past number of days I've happily hosted a big bunch of family, a good time was had, and much beer was drunk. However now I find that my main Formica countertop has been very noticeably scored by someone in my wider clan, who did not use one of the many breadboards available to cut the lovely homemade bread. Not one score, but many. More than 10 indelible marks that will live forever. It must have been a vigorous sandwich making session. I love them, whichever one of them it was, but now I have to see this every day.

Re: Annoyances & Irritations
Im turning into some grumpy old fucker. If I see someone replying to a comment online and they start by typing "I mean", it gives me Ire, or starting to explain something by starting with "So" .
Goddammit young me would really want to thump the shite out of now me.

She may have the same ruined countertop as me but at least she has a new boyfriend...

Hopefully the new boyfriends lines dont disappear into the deep scratches, he might find that annoying
