Looking forward to seeing Varane in the back 4 for the Southampton game next week. I see today's papers covering the story that Jones wouldn't surrender the no. 4 shirt, despite not being seen on the pitch for 18 months, being long term injured and seemingly on his way out of the cub. Odd

I find this a strange story because ultimately if the club wanted to give the number to varane then there is nothing Jones can do about it.

Same happened with Martial and Lukaku. I think it's press making a story out of nothing maybe he was asked and said I'd rather keep it and the club or ole didn't want to push him on it but ultimately if they wanted or varane wanted there is nothing to stop them.

Would you think that's true ? That a club can just take your squad number. I would imagine the player would have to consent to it. Some players are attached to a jersey number and others are not

The club register the numbers with the league so ultimately they have the power. They told martial he wasn't getting number 9 and they gave it to zlatan.

Jones is 4th or 5th choice defender so can’t see him playing many PL games. Maybe a few cup games if Utd are stretched. Personally prefer he was moved on but there won’t be many takers

Absoloutly no harm in having him there. He is 5th choice not gonna play unless Bailey and Lindelof are injured which let's face it is a possibility but chances of Jones been fit enough to play is slim too so doubt we will ever see him.

Agree but that's not gonna change now.
No one else will pay his wages so the club will end up paying them one way or another. Saying that if I remember correctly I think he wasn't on that hight a wage and there was playing incentives built in.

Important to get the win today. Southampton were filthy bastards on both occasions last season and considering we smashed them 9 nil last time out I'd be expecting more of the same from them. They've lost Ings though so shouldn't prove any major opposition if we play as well as we can play.

Going for a comfortable 2 nil win for us.

Yeah I think today is the type of game that ole needs to show he has learned something. Southampton are going to try to sit back more then Leeds and he will have to change it up.

It's also the type of game that could be scoreless on 60 minutes and needs a sub.... Not no changes until 80 minutes.

Good to see Garner signed a new contract and gone on loan again. I think I might of preferd him at one of the new prem clubs but for rest is still a good move he is settled there.
