Online GHOSTING

Ghosting is when someone's online presence is apparently 'live' but they are actually unavailable.
We've all done it in our earlier online days. But what about work? Have you been subject to it. Or have you ever done it so as not to call in sick? Don't think it's as prevalent as it was 10 years ago.
Did it all the time in college. What experiences do you have to share?

I thought ghosting was when you come back from the afterlife to haunt someone you didn't like

Would have to think long and hard to come up with an example ... so I suppose that means no, it's not really something that affects me.

The closest I'd come to it is not acknowledging the "Hi, how are things?" texts I get at irregular intervals from a childhood friend. At least not for a week or two. If he'd only upgrade himself to using WhatsApp, I'd answer faster.

At college I became good friends with a guy originally from the US. He eventually moved back around 2012. I sent him a couple of emails to see how things were going but nothing. The literal sound of crickets.
About 2 years, totally out of the blue, I got a "Hi. How are you email" from him. Wasn't sure if he's account has been hacked so I didn't reply. And I haven't heard anything from him since.
