My new gardening outfit
My new gardening outfit
Fashion conscious as I am, I bought myself a new gardening Jacket and gloves
Yes, your eyes are not deceiving you ...not only are they a fetching shade of yellow/orange, but they are indeed a welding jacket and gloves...made out of cow hide.
A tad heavy and perhaps not suitable for a hot day, but just the ticket when attacking brambles and blackthorn of which my "garden" has an abundance.
I've been using welding gloves for years, but now with the jacket I can finally trim edges, cut back branches and run the lawnmower along the hedge without giving blood every time.

Re: My new gardening outfit
Where did you buy the jacket Peasant ? Would be interested in something like that.
Re: My new gardening outfit
I think you forgot the hazmat mask and googles.
Putins M65 will make short work of that, he will nuke the brambles for you.

Re: My new gardening outfit
I have a pair of Stihl chainsaw boots and leggings in orange so the jacket would complete the orange transformation for me.
Re: My new gardening outfit
mind...that thing is very heavy and you'll get quite sweaty in it if you wear it a while doing physical work ...yellow fabric might be a better choice.
Main reason I bought this is that whenever my monster mower drags me close along the hedges in my garden, I invariably get dragged through brambles and blackthorn. That's bloody, hurts and itches for days and I've had enough of that.
Re: My new gardening outfit
I'm just thinking there you should also get a motorbike helmet.
Stig on a ride on.

Did ...well not Barbour, but a waxy jacket type thingy ...ripped to shreds it was.The Continental Op wrote: ↑Sat Feb 26, 2022 2:44 pm Why not use an old Barbour jacket you could even get the trousers?
Have you seen what a blackthorn thorn can do to a lawnmower tyre?
Now imagine what it does to your skin ...
Re: My new gardening outfit
My lawn mower tyres and barrow tyres are filled with tyre goop - works!
I'm slowly eradicating the blackthorn here. I've found a couple of sprays each year with anything with 2,4-D in it knocks it well back. So after keeping it out of the field edges of the garden I'm slowly getting rid of larger plants that aren't part of a hedgerow.

Yepp ...my lawnmower tyres are solid goop covereed in a black agri profile
I'm not getting rid of the blackthorn, just keeping it in check. I looks beautiful in bloom and the birds just love it for nesting and hiding in.

Are you suggesting Peasant fills his legs with tyre Goop?
