Anyone ever mix / use Green Diesel into you home heating oil tank ?

I've got about a 100 litres of green agri diesel lying around that won't be used over the winter. I've oil to heat the house and the oil boiler is probably about twenty years old. Would throwing the green diesel into the kerosene tank be okay to do or would it cause any problems?

I got two different answers off two different friends. One said there's no bothers he does it regularly and the other has said it would clog up the spray nossel on the oil burner.

Not sure whether to chance it or not now.

It would probably be OK if you are diluting down a full or almost full tank of Kerosene.

Servicing a boiler normally involves replacing the jet so I wouldn't worry about it getting blocked permanently.

Years ago we did have to swap from a diesel boiler to a kerosene one. We had almost 3/4 tank of diesel. We topped it off with kerosene and the boiler ran grand out (but a fraction smokey at times)

Thanks Joe. I got it filled yesterday with kero. Will throw a couple of drums in it and see how it goes.

Oil burners are commissioned depending on the fuel so addition of diesel to a kerosene setup will not be optimal.

If you dilute it well down you will get away with it but if you were getting a burner set up by a burner specialist they wouldn't be impressed if you told them you had a mix since they would be unsure of nozzle sizes, oil pressure and air etc.
A combustion test is reliant on knowing the calorific value of the fuel so again a combustion or efficency test, if you tried to get one, would be inaccurate with a fuel mix.
Diesel creates soot which kerosene doesn't so the boiler will not be as clean as a whistle as it was before.
