Cleaning books

In this case, glossy dustwrappers; I have searched in vain online and there's nothing that I can find. What I'm talking about is your typical modern hardback with a glossy wrapper that is tired looking from handling. Not damaged or torn just not glossy looking anymore. Soap and water, furniture polish, nail polish remover and lighter fluid are all things that I use to clean books - great for removing heavy dirt, sticker residue etc. but nothing brings up a shine on the dustwrappers. Thanks for all the replies I'm going to get. :D

Use a gloss acrylic varnish. Art supply shops should have it.

Airbrush or spray gun will work best of course.

That sounds a bit excessive, I want to return the books to as near their original condition as possible so that they look as near as new as possible.

That's how to do it then.

Anything else is a half measure and won't have them like new.

Just saying. :D
