Putin has insisted on a phone call with Biden in half a hours time, Biden says he will take the phone call.
Apparently listening to some commentary Putin will issue a list of demands or else he invades.

I'd say an invasion is unlikely but if it does happen the West should stay well clear - it's Russia's back yard.

Worst case scenario I think we end up with another East/West Germany type situation. But most likely Putin will settle for rattling Ukraine's cage over NATO.

That being said, I wonder how Poland would react to Russia edging that bit closer to their own border if an invasion did occur? I reckon they'd nearly fight to the death in order to stop that happening. Too many bad memories, no?

Too many fans of Tom Clancy dreaming of a war with Russia, its not going to happen, the media is just filling the airwave during a dull news period, it will all blow over in the new year when something real happens and takes over the news cycle, and have you not learned anything this last 2 years of Covid, the news is full of shit, exaggerates every little thing into a doomsday event.
Russia has done military maneuvers inside it own border, ask yourself why is that news?

Too many people think real war is some sort of video game/entertainment. Any future war between Russia and the West would result in the cessation of life on earth so they should keep praying that it never happens.

Reminds me of Obama and Hillary's laughable "red line" concerning Syria. Putin knows Biden is weak, unpopular at home, and will do nothing in the event of a Russian invasion of Ukraine.

Nobody in their right mind desires a war. Biden should stop blowing hot air pretending he is going to do something. Say what you want about President Trump but even his detractors respected his America First agenda. Instead of squandering billions of tax dollars to fund the industrial military complex for wars on the other side of the planet, perhaps Biden could clean up the rotten cores of America's major cities. San Francisco and Los Angeles resemble third world refugee camps with the number of tent cities set up on the sidewalks.

Lot of BItcoin miners over there , power and internet cut, Bitcoin price dumping, the same week the Fed admitted to giving Wall Street $4,500,000,000,000 18 months ago that has magically disappeared, the Fed printed 40% of all Dollars that have ever existed last year😧, hyperinflation on the cards with a dollar collapse, is this just to try delay the inevitable?

Just reading the latest, by all accounts Putin intends to invade the whole of the Ukraine instead of just the east and it could happen any time in the next few weeks.

According to the US it could be hours rather than days. Western powers (the UK) should get their 'advisers' out if they have any sense and leave them off. In Ireland the government should make it clear that any invasion will lead to the Russian diplomatic presence here being closed down.

Hows the weather over there? Russians might just be waiting for ground to harden before they roll in, apparently that part of Ukraine has been boggy due to mild weather

You have a good point there and I was thinking about it after posting but at the end of the day the Iraq and Afghanistan campaigns were waged by a coalition of democracies and Russia is as far away from being a democracy as it is possible to be. Anyway, there's no way the West should get involved in a squabble between two former Soviet states. The Ukraine has no place in the EU or NATO - unless Russia is also invited to join both blocks too - highly unlikely.

Totally agree, the West should not be involved at all. But they will.
On the other campaigns, your so called democracies fabricated lies to get involved. Weapons of mass destruction, chemical weapons ect,ect
If they dont have a legitimate reason to get involved, then they will make one ;)

Do Poland, Romania and Hungary not have a place in the EU and NATO then?

NATO should have accepted the Baltic states and Ukraine back in the 90s and told Russia to go and whistle. It's a fascinating idea that Russia has some sort of VETO over its former vassal states.

The Eastern European states you mention were occupied by the Soviets and part of the Warsaw Pact - the Ukraine was part of the USSR. Whatever about being a 'fascinating' idea that Russia - a superpower with thousands of nuclear missiles - has a veto ..... Would you rather we had kicked off WW.III. to satisfy your sense of fair play?

Indeed, WWWIII will kick off over Ukraine. There was a lot of that talk around in the 70s and 80s, thankfully the yanks elected a president who knocked it on the head and caused the Soviets to crumble

This has nothing to do with fair play, right now Russia is flexing because they correctly judge both the US and Europe to be weak (Thank Germanys green agenda there). I said the west should have integrated the Ukraine back in the 90s, opportunity missed.

Little litmus test here, if Vlad rolls into Ukraine without any pushback, he won't call it a day.
