We cannot continue as is, we cannot continue with essentially an open border and imagine it's bad now, imagine what Nigel Farage lead government will do and the mass exodus of the illegals to Ireland

Ireland needs deterrents, this is the only way to stop this madness. These illegals should be processed outside Ireland instead of destroying local communities

No longer providing benefits
No longer allowing them to work after a certain period
No longer letting them leave on their own accord, they should be on the next plane out of the country
You commit a crime, your gone
If you dont provide documentation, you're gone

Absolutely shouldn’t be ignored, I’m just not sure of a solution- but it will involve some sacrifices somewhere. A united Irish immigration zone where all entries into the whole country are checked I guess is the only way it can work. The common travel with the UK is supposed to be citizens of either country.

If someone applies for asylum, their fingerprints are taken and put in the eurodac database. If they subsequently apply for asylum in a different country their fingerprints are taken and put on the eurodac system. Which obviously shows a previous claim. So a take back notice is then issued to the original country.

Doesnt matter how many checks you have on roads or at borders. People are legally entitled to claim asylum, and they are going to keep in doing so, no matter how long you put your head in the sand.

They don't receive benefits, they get less then 40 euro a week.
They have a constitutional right to work as stated by the supreme Court in NHV V minister for justice and equality.
Letting them leave of their own accord, makes perfect sense, for financial and manpower reasons.
If they commit a crime they can be deported after a rejection of their application.
Not having documentation will never be a bar for claiming asylum, because there are many reasons why people don't have it destroy them.

Wouldn’t work though, people would just choose a different route costing them a few extra hours. You’d have to put up check points on every road through the border, which I don’t think anyone wants. Imagine for example people charging these guys for passage across the border.

People are legally entitled to claim asylum, so even if you build a big wall, they can still claim asylum.

I expect them to seek asylum in the first safe country they land in, and to be distributed onwards once found eligible.

I do not expect them to travel to the country of their choice, or to attempt the same ruse in country after country after having their claims rejected.

It’s frankly ridiculous and if it was up to me they’d be drowned at sea just to stop this insanity but that probably wouldn’t go down too well (yet).
