Just breaking now on Twitter by Daniel Mc Connell. The Cabinet have approved a package to make Katherine Zappone envoy for freedom of expression with a salary plus free travel.

Now perhaps I'm not seeing the big picture here but surely there are more pressing issues which needed to be addressed and furthermore where was this role advertised?

Or as is more likely the case, is this just the Political class looking after themselves and their cronies with junkets?

Seems a bit odd and totally agree there are more pressing issues to be addressed.

But, in theory I would not be against the concept of the government recognising the right to Freedom of Expression for all.

Having said that Zappone is a strange choice if you are serious about protecting everybody's right.
