Gender Theory Thread

#1

Post by isha »

I was thinking that it might be best to have a thread especially just about this very broad subject matter. Otherwise posts get mixed in with Current Affairs Chat thread and WTF thread and so on. This might give it a place where many different facets of the issue - from the frivolous to the very serious to the bizarre - could be posted.

Most of what I noticed today is elsewhere on the forum, but there is the image of JK Rowling now doing the rounds. It is appropriate to mention her in the OP as she is a person who gives me courage to have opinions that go against the permitted ones, because I know she is a good person.

The art work is the front cover of Politico's Europe magazine.

Politico is as far as I can make out a reasonably sized online publication, which was founded in 2007 by journalists from Washington Post, The New York Times and Time magazine. It has a bimonthly print magazine. Cat Graffam, a trans woman, was commissioned to illustrate the front cover of their current Europe issue.

My opinion is that it is a sinister and crude piece of work. Rowling has been a huge force for good in the world - a successful female author who encouraged reading and imagination in a whole generation of young people. But this portrayal of her is also completely in lockstep with the widely-sanctioned public hate-speech towards people who will not toe the line on Gender theory ideology.

JK Rowling is an amazing women and I will be forever grateful for her bringing the Harry Potter series into this world for everyone to enjoy. The Politico to me just means dumb American liberals. Nothing of any beauty or creativity to add to the world.

You are either born male or female. This gender identity bulshit should not be pushed on our young people. Young people should be encouraged to love who the are. I've no problem with Gay, Lesbians or bisexuals, that's sexual preference and is somehow lumped into this gender identity rubbish.

Edited.

To my mind, it's basically just another man with mediocre creative talents and an agenda, trying to tear down an independent and successful woman.

Jordan Peterson responds to the twitter ban that was probably incurred due to offending gender ideology. Recently Babylon bee were banned as well of course(satirical website) after it had mockingly awarded transgender government official Rachel Levine the title "Man of the Year."

☺️Tell us how you really feel, Jordan!

I started off thinking this was an incontinent and ill advised display of irritable snark from Peterson. He can be overly concerned with justifying himself on every point. It's unlikable.

But as it went on I realised he is making true points on an essential level - that the state or societal compulsion under fear of punishment to speak falsehood is basically sinister.

Also he is correct to emphasise that the risk of entanglement of the young and female, who he rightly says are peculiarly vulnerable to vicious fads, is a concerning moral hazard and that Page is very influential in encouraging this particular and dangerous entanglement.

So on the whole, while I would not like to be married to such a cranky sarcastic self-righteous man, his fundamental points are generally correct. And he should make them.

Although my opinion is he should be more clever about his delivery. He is emotionally involved to the point of overpowering animus and the logic of his arguments doesn't benefit from that delivery.

Nonetheless, we will remain in the place where trans people of various kinds exist and most just want to live their lives quietly. They will always exist and deserve normal rights and protections, and must be subject to normal duties and fair rules as everyone else is. We have to find ways to balance all of this up without being illogical/untruthful AND without becoming monsters. It's going to be tricky finding solid ground considering how very far we have swum from shore already.

Shane there is no doubt going on these “safe to be me” picnics and wittering in about how he’s oppressed - yet dresses up like a UVF tribute act to harass actual women discussing womens issues - and posts death threats.

The sooner TENI, Stonewall and their acolytes are run out of time the better.

I couldn't see his account as it seems to be banned. But maybe he was known before. Maybe is Irish because of his handle?

Thought that - deleted the account it seems. I imagine another equally as vile is set up already.

Really?

Have you heard of this Shane before? I've seen photos now, saved from the timeline. There are considerable gaps in my knowledge about how TRAs and Twitter work! 😅

I’m more confused than either of you I think! I can’t scroll through Twitter without an account but they claim they set up the account after the old one was banned, but also seems to appreciate the old creators tweet threatening Rowling and also is a big lgbt supporter.

Maybe if there was a ban this would be the perfect way to circumvent it. Plausible deniability, “oh, well we deleted the account with the offending tweet”, yeah but someone else is using it already for the same purpose.

Just to update that the ladies who run Reduxx tracked down the person who published JK Rowling's address and pictures suggestive of threats. He is an Irish male feminist, who is an 'activist' for certain idpol issues. People rightly speak of the danger from incel / extreme right culture but so far enough people are not speaking of the equal danger posed by extreme left wing culture.

I wasn't going to mention this but you may hear about a coffufle concerning a Mayo bookshop that had a drag queen reading to very small children. I'll mention it because Paschal Donohue posted in support of the shop and Leo Varadkar liked a tweet by Panti Bliss who, when asked if the drag queens present had Garda clearance, replied that they have Garda clearance to tell people to feck off. Leo liked that

As it happens Annie Queeries is reasonably tame, say especially compared to acts like Glitter Hole who have been employed to read to toddlers. His is mostly an anime princess aesthetic, involving what must be hours of intricate makeup sessions and diamante application before their normal work on the drag scene. He is a very good looking young man who makes a very good looking fantasy drag queen, and I'm sure he's a nice oul skin. More power to him.

https://instagram.com/anniequeeries?igshid=YmMyMTA2M2Y=

Nonetheless it's still my opinion that drag queens are not suitable entertainment for children. I don't understand the drive to bring them to kids. Even though Annie appears demure at the reading it's still a male in a short frilly skater dress with thigh high white socks, platforms and sexualised depiction of the female face, IE huge lips, massive lashes, a kind of sexy Alice in Wonderland. A girl dressed like that reading to kids would be a bit odd - like, why don't we do gussied up girls with extreme makeup and sexy dresses reading to children instead? Because we know it would be sending sexual signals to children, I think, which is not appropriate. I really think it is very hard to take the sexual undercurrent out of drag and button up the cardigans for kids.

I think it would be better to concentrate on childhood characters for children - these burlesque chaps are not Panto dames. They are vamping, that's their thing. Which is completely fine in its normal venue - with adults.

I don't see what this drag stuff does to encourage Pride, and I think it might even be confusing for children. One mother gushed about how her child loved the pretty ladies. But that's not a pretty lady, so already that kid has a mixed up message of what it is to be a "pretty lady". Especially young gay boys should be encouraged to feel that they are sufficiently manly boys even though they love boys, and not automatically feminine in any way. It's kind of weird to not acknowledge most gay boys are actually teased about not being manly and now they have this drag femme aesthetic supposedly to "encourage" them. But by far the most of them are not pseudo-femmes and most of them don't want to cross dress. A gay hurler or an athlete would likely encourage a young gay boy more (I think) to be proud to be himself.

Have lesbians or gay couples read to kids if normalising gay relationship is the goal. It would be great. Or grannies. Granny or Grandad reading hour please, make that a thing

....on a bike, with a seat-post and no saddle.

There will be a reckoning for a lot of these drag queens down the line.

It used to be that people who wanted to act like this were dealt with from the earliest in the schoolyard, down the lane or behind the bike sheds. Young-fella's wouldn't put up with this kind of shite. This crap would have been knocked out of these fools good and early.

It's men, dressing as women, sexualised female characters. It's fetishism, plain and simple, rubbed in peoples faces by freaks with no common sense or decency.

I fear it'll be much more harmful when a grown up mob decide they've have enough and take matters into their own hands. And perverts dressing up in fetish wear, reading stories to little children, while parents or guardians ignore everything wrong about this sick scenario will be the straw that'll break the camels back.

I'd have a very, very hard time keeping my cool if one of those kids were mine and I'd be disgusted if my other half thought that kind of thing was okay.

Leo Varadker should be ashamed of himself. A pitiful excuse of a man. Pascal Donohoe is just another populist gobshite who is out of touch with reality.

Kinks and fetishes have no place being flaunted like this in public. It's not entertainment. It's conditioning children to accept things they should be aware are not right. There's no good can come from teaching children that men wearing dresses and makeup, high heels and all the other shite they do when in drag is somehow normal, okay and non-threatening.

Creeps like that are absolutely what children should avoid, and adults who say otherwise are bad people in my books. That crap should be kept indoors, for adults to decide if they'll spectate or participate.

If it was a grown man wearing nothing but a nappy, sitting there on the couch reading stories to children, nobody would be okay with that. And rightly so. So what makes it okay in anyone's head that a grown man dressed like an anime ****doll is any different?

Abhorrent behaviour from awful people.

I just don't get this latest obsession with drag queens wanting to be around small children. Like, what's it actually about? Was there a global convention where they all decided to do outreach initiatives to primary school kids? Is this about grooming?

And if it's a genuine attempt to promote gender ideology, what does this particular adult fetish have to do with actual trans issues? It's like recruiting jockeys with a pantomime horse ffs.

Aristotle said, “Give me a child until he is 7 and I will show you the man.”

Equally Lenin said "Give me four years to teach the children and the seed I have sown will never be uprooted"

While I largely agree with much of your underlying sentiment, JayZeus, I feel more moderate in my distaste. I honestly don't think these people are perverted for wanting to dress up and do drag and be sexual and signal even decadence. It's been a huge scene in human culture since forever and most people have their own personal kinks along a very graduated scale.

I honestly don't even think about what goes on in drag clubs, or strip clubs, or dark rooms or orgies. Whatever rocks their world, let them off, including sissy stuff or anything frankly etc.

My big big BIG sticking point is any intersection with the world of children no matter how buttoned up the adult expression is made. Kids don't belong near strippers, or watching the softest porn, or near drag which is a sexualised performance art. Nor near child pageants or twerking clubs or restaurants with ladies in tiny tops. Full stop.

I was very protective of my own children's childhood, their belief in fairies and magic and the wonder of nature. Their TV and media input was very monitored. Without that grounding in the world of innocent childhood, children suffer into adulthood. It provides nourishment and vision for the rest of their lives, which dammit can be pretty fecken hard bytimes.

So nope, do whatever you want if it harms no one else, but not anywhere near the kids!

Imagine what the world would be like without social media. A more creative, happier one I would suspect. We wouldn't be discussing transvestites reading to kids in Westport that's for sure.
