Don't want to be an arse but my GUBU moment just yesterday was Jessica Alves saying they have frozen their sperm so that when they get their uterus transplant they can fertilise the egg(s) that will be implanted in themselves. I honestly did not ever think I would have to contemplate such twists in the tale of our species.

Almost every day these days provides GUBU moments, I find.

WTF moment of the day.

Following on from the GUBU moment of the day thread, please put your WTF moment of the day in here.

Did you see something that made you stop and think "WTF, how did we get this far as a species?"

If so let us know.

Being a semi-reclusive old git, I had to google "Jessica Alves" to understand the context of the above. Google obliged me with several photos

My eyes, my eyes ... :o

Gotta find that toad I almost strimmed this morning and try to compensate for the damage.

I'm standing in the centre of a cathedral type structure that has a really really high roof looking up at it... There are large kangaroo like creatures with small point wings similar to bat wings that are dotted around the circular roof... they drop down a few feet every so often but are still a couple of hundred feet above.... on the stone floor there are old hession sacks of corn piled up along some of the sides of the walls... an old dusty wooden table has a basket with some packets of cheese and onion tayto in it... I've no idea how I got here...

That's my WTF moment for the day...

If this person wants to be outwardly female - have at it. Want me to call her, her/she?? Delighted to.

Sit back while she has a womb transplant when there are young women having hysterectomies and should be first in line ? Hell to the fcuk no!!!!!!

minor technical question:

If this person has a baby in their womb with their sperm...is this technically a clone?

No. Because it is what happens with most of us mothers - we use our own eggs. Jessica would use their own sperm instead, and someone else's egg.
It just conjured a funny image for me of a ...well...lad getting themselves pregnant.

It's not funny if it ever happens as the baby would have to grow in a toxic chemical soup, as high doses of hormones etc and anti rejection drugs would be needed to maintain pregnancy. Hopefully it will be a good while before it is possible - although it is likely to eventually be possible. If I am around I will think more about it then.

This can be my WTF moment of the day.
Hopefully no senior physicist comes along before nightfall to assert that everyone knows the earth is flat - which would usurp this WTF for today.
The International Olympic Committee has praised the weightlifter Laurel Hubbard’s “courage and tenacity” as she prepares to become the first transgender athlete to compete in an Olympics on Monday. The IOC’s medical and science director, Dr Richard Budgett, said “everyone agrees that trans women are women”.

I posted somewhere that I was going to buy a boat and start up a boat people cult in preparation for sea levels apparently rising. But I don't know what thread I posted it in. It was meant for peasant's 5 nations that will survive the climate change apocalypse.

If anyone finds it can the tell the post your in the wrong thread.

Thanks in advance

Is that allowed? Surely it can be in any thread it wants and it's not for you or any of us to assume there's a right thread for it? :?

In light of your thought provoking post there Celtic, I've decided to let all my posts go free. They can now wander off to whatever threads they like or even fall off the page to relax for a bit.

Go free and thread carefully my little posts..
