Says more about Swedish bureaucracy than Brexit but no doubt it will be resolved.

It’s interesting that the uk gave Sweden security assurances just last year, that they would defend them if attacked. Now this year Sweden are expelling over 1,000 brits including this poor lady.

I can’t find any data in swedes being expelled from Britain mind you. It’s funny because the eu are supposed to be in favour of free movement of people. They prefer to stick it to the uk whenever possible more than follow their own rules. Fking hypocrites.

Free movement of people within and between the member states. If your fellow countrymen (and women) decide to remove themselves from the club, then they default to "rest of the world" rules. That's why there have been coach-loads of British children enjoying the first days of their Easter holidays on the side of the M20 in Kent.

Whether you come from England or Eswatini, you have to prove you've a good reason for entering and/or remaining in the Schengen Area, same as you do - as an Irish person - when you go to Kenya or Kentucky. Nothing hypocritical about it.

I have no sympathy for brexiteers,or their passport chaos at airports

But this woman shouldn't be deported, let her stay, she's being punished for actions of others and seems a level of deliberate cruelty on par with how the English treat migrants crossings the channel

She's not being punished. She is a victim of those Britons who preferred to believe that "nothing will change after Brexit" even though cases such as hers were held up as examples of the likely consequences of Brexit - but it seems that even her own son is still living in the Brexit fantasy land, thinking that there was no reason to ensure his mother had up-to-date I.D. because "she doesn't travel". He had years to get that sorted out before now - why didn't he?

I doubt she'd notice.

The Brits are coming to realise that "taking back control" includes them. They insisted on third country status at Schengen borders and are now finding out just what that means. It's a shame though that the side effects of the Little Englander tactics of the ultra Tories should impact unfortunate people like this woman, it can only be hoped that some compassion is shown.

Its 2,200 people from all of Europe being sent back to the UK. It’s spiteful and petty.

Not at all, why should these EU countries subsidise the Brits, who contribute SFA to EU coffers now.

What will poor old Britain defend Sweden with? Decades of penny pinching have seen the British armed forces reduced to a shadow of their former selves fit for Trooping the Colour and little else.

Never fear, with trade deals imminent that are likely to increase Britain's trade balance by a staggering 1.8 billion pounds over the next decade, Brittania will soon be ruling the waves once more. Who said Brexit wasn't a good idea? The Tories were always the party of defence spending, they'll find a way.
